Background: The emergence of antibiotic resistant microorganisms associated with conventional swine production practices has increased interest in acid-based compounds having antimicrobial properties and other biological functions as nutritional interventions. Despite the interest in organic acids and monoglycerides, few studies have examined the effects of the combination of these acid-based additives in weaned pigs under disease challenge conditions. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with blend of organic acids and/or medium-chain fatty acid monoglycerides on intestinal health and systemic immunity of weaned pigs experimentally infected with an enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) F18 at 4-week of age.

Background: Current research underscores the need to better understand the pathogenic mechanisms and treatment strategies for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). This study aimed to identify key targets involved in the progression of IPF.
Methods: We employed Mendelian randomization (MR) with three genome-wide association studies and four quantitative trait loci datasets to identify key driver genes for IPF.

Background: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from endothelial cells (ECs) are increasingly recognized for their role in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. ECs experience varying degrees and types of blood flow depending on their specific arterial locations. In regions of disturbed flow, which are predominant sites for atherosclerotic plaque formation, the impact of disturbed flow on the secretion and function of ECs-derived EVs remains unclear.

Background: A new circulating biomarker superior to carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) is needed for diagnosing pancreatobiliary cancer (PBca). The aim of this study was to identify serum microRNA (miRNA) signatures comprising reproducible and disease-related miRNAs.
Methods: This multicenter study involved patients with treatment-naïve PBca and healthy participants.

Purpose: The inflammatory response in animal models of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is activated by the NLR-family-pyrin-domain-containing-3 (NLRP3) inflammasome pathway, which is also known to play a role in obesity-related inflammation. The NLRP3/caspase-1/interleukin (IL)-1β pathway might be involved in the progression of COPD with increasing body mass index. To our knowledge, no previous studies have explored the role of NLRP3 inflammasome markers in linking COPD and obesity.
