The Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) is a strategy for inducing acute psychological stress and increases in glucocorticoid levels. Here we describe the methodology and implementation of a Semi-Virtual Trier Social Stress Test (SV-TSST) which combines the control of a laboratory environment with reduced need for in-person logistical support and enhanced social distancing without the need for specialized equipment. During the SV-TSST, the participant is guided through the baseline, anticipatory, challenge, and recovery phases of the test by an in-person experimenter.

The burnout syndrome has been in the focus of occupational health experts for several decades, and a new diagnostic tool - Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT-23) - has given a strong impetus to its research. The tool is designed to self-assess four core dimensions of the burnout syndrome: chronic exhaustion, cognitive and emotional impairment at work, and mental distancing from work. However, little is known about how burnout is assessed from the perspective of a colleague.

Mentally ill offenders face stigma, being perceived as both dangerous and unpredictable. This leads to social discrimination, which causes devaluation, distancing, and unequal treatment towards them. Critical and dismissive attitudes of healthcare professionals and police toward these patients undermine their care, treatment, and prospects for rehabilitation.
