The atomic distribution in amorphous FeZr alloys is found to be close to random, nevertheless, the composition can not be viewed as being homogenous at the nm-scale. The spatial variation of the local composition is identified as the root of the unusual magnetic properties in amorphous [Formula: see text] alloys. The findings are discussed and generalised with respect to the physical properties of amorphous and crystalline materials.

Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) of carbohydrates has been reported as a sustainable and green technique to produce carbonaceous micro- and nano-materials. These materials have been developed for several applications, including catalysis, separation science, metal ion adsorption and nanomedicine. Carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) obtained through HTC are particularly interesting for the latter application since they exhibit photothermal properties when irradiated with near-infrared (NIR) light, act as an antioxidant by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS), and present good colloidal stability and biocompatibility.

Key Laboratory for Deep Processing of Major Grain and Oil, Ministry of Education, Hubei Key Laboratory for Processing and Transformation of Agricultural Products, Wuhan Polytechnic University, Wuhan 430023, PR China; School of Food Science and Engineering, Wuhan Polytechnic University, Wuhan 430023, PR China. Electronic address:

A novel starch-based emulsion gel was designed via octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA) esterification, ozone oxidation, and ion (Ca) induction. The gel properties and low-temperature stability of emulsion gel with different oxidation time (0, 5, 10, 15, 25 min; OW-0, 5, 10, 15, 25) were systematically investigated. FTIR revealed that the oxidation of CC and -OH groups in OW-0 by ozone oxidation led to their cleavage into carbonyl groups, and than transformed to carboxyl groups.

The present study investigated the properties of galactomannan, a water-soluble polysaccharide extracted from the Prosopis farcta (Çeti) plant. These properties encompassed its functional characteristics, chemical composition, rheological behavior, and morphological structure. The results were systematically compared with those of the commercially utilized locust bean gum (LBG).

Multifunctional Polar Polymer Boosting PEO Electrolytes toward High Room Temperature Ionic Conductivity, High-Voltage Stability, and Excellent Elongation.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

International Science and Technology Cooperation Base of Energy Materials and Application, College of Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou 310014, P.R. China.

Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) has been widely studied as an electrolyte owing to its excellent lithium compatibility and good film-forming properties. However, its electrochemical performance at room temperature remains a significant challenge due to its low ionic conductivity, narrow electrochemical window, and continuous decomposition. Herein, we prepare a multifunctional polar polymer to optimize PEO's electrochemical properties and cycling stability.

In this work, the conventional melt quenching approach is used to synthesize the Pr doped NaF-BiO-BO-SiO (NBBS) glasses. The influence of Pr ions on their spectroscopic and structural characteristics in glass network is investigated. The amorphous nature of the samples has been amply verified by X-ray diffraction patterns.
