This review highlights recent advancements and challenges in fluorescence-based chemical sensors for selective and sensitive detection of perchlorate, a persistent environmental pollutant and global concern due to its health and safety implications. Perchlorate is a highly persistent inorganic pollutant found in drinking water, soil, and air, with known endocrine-disruptive properties due to its interference with iodide uptake by the thyroid gland. Human exposure mainly occurs through contaminated water and food.

N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) was determined using a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based electrochemical sensor. Green-synthesized silver nanoparticles were functionalized with cysteamine to enhance their integration into the electrode surface, which was used to modify a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Furthermore, a MIP-based electrochemical sensor was constructed via electropolymerization of 3-aminophenyl boronic acid (3-APBA) as a conjugated functional monomer in the presence of lithium perchlorate (LiClO) solution as a dopant, chitosan as a carrier natural polymer, and NDMA as a template/target molecule.

Background: The purity of the extracted DNA is critical for successful molecular testing. This study aimed to compare the effect of various DNA extraction methods, extraction processes, and sources of consumables, such as microtubes, on PCR results.
Methods: DNA extraction from whole blood was performed using four different approaches utilizing four types of microtubes: chloroform-based, sodium perchlorate-based, heat-assisted salting out, and solid-phase extraction.

There are many concerns about the impacts of Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals on both wildlife and human populations. A plethora of chemicals have been shown to interfere with the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid (HPT) axis in vertebrates. Disruption of the HPT axis is one of main endocrine criteria considered for the regulation of chemicals, along with the estrogen axis, androgen axis and steroidogenesis (EATS).

Background: Synthetic cannabinoids (SCs) are a broad class of illicit drugs that are classified according to the chemical structure of the aromatic core that they present (i.e., indole, imidazole, pyrrole) and their detection is still a challenge, despite their widespread diffusion.
