The powerful antioxidant properties of C60 fullerenes have been widely used in biomedical nanotechnology. Owing to the negative effects of free radicals in oxidative stress processes, antioxidants are required to protect injured muscles. Here, the effect of water-soluble C60 fullerenes (daily oral dose 1 mg/kg) on the process of restoration of contractile activity of skeletal muscle of rats (muscle gastrocnemius) 15 days after the initiation of open trauma of different severity was studied for the first time.

A phenol contains a six-membered, conjugated, aromatic ring that is bound to a hydroxyl group. These molecules are important in biomedical studies, aromatic food preparation, and petroleum engineering. Traditionally, phenols have been measured with several analytical techniques such as UV-VIS spectroscopy, fluorescence, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry.

Background: Yellow nail syndrome (YNS) is a rare disorder characterized by a triad of yellow dystrophic nails, lymphedema, and chronic lung disease. Most patients present in adulthood, with only a few congenital or familial cases described. The cause of YNS remains largely unknown, although defects in lymphatic vessel development are suggested to play a significant role.

Background: Medication compliance, which refers to the extent to which patients correctly adhere to prescribed regimens, is influenced by various psychological, behavioral, and demographic factors. When analyzing these factors, challenges such as multicollinearity and variable selection often arise, complicating the interpretation of results. To address the issue of multicollinearity and better analyze the importance of each factor, machine learning methods are considered to be useful.

Background: Differentiating between tuberculosis and malignancy as the cause of an exudative lymphocyte predominant pleural effusion is difficult due to similarities in the cellular and biochemical characteristics of the pleural fluid in both conditions. Microbiological tests in tubercular pleural effusions have a poor diagnostic yield, and the long turnaround time for results prevents an early diagnosis. The diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion (MPE) is hampered by a variable yield of pleural fluid cytology and closed pleural biopsy and the fact that thoracoscopy may not be readily available or feasible in each patient.
