This study introduces a five-compartment model to account for the impacts of vaccination-induced recovery and nonlinear treatment rates in settings with limited hospital capacity. To reflect real-world scenarios, the model incorporates multiple reinfections in both vaccinated and recovered groups. It reveals a range of dynamics, including a disease-free equilibrium and up to six endemic equilibria.

Intracellular microorganisms like viruses and bacteria impact immune cell function. However, detection of these microbes is challenging as the majority exist in a non-culturable state. This protocol presents detailed steps to investigate intracellular microbial diversity using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) in immune-cells of SARS-CoV-2-positive and recovered patients.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected the timely diagnosis and treatment of many cancers, including melanoma, the fifth most common cancer in the U.S. This study aimed to quantify the disruption and recovery of melanoma detection, treatment, survival, and mortality during the pandemic by analyzing data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program from 2000 to 2021.

The murine hepatitis virus (MHV) is an important model system for studying coronavirus (CoV) molecular and cell biology. Despite this, few reagents for MHV are available through repositories such as ATCC or Addgene, potentially limiting the widespread adoption of MHV as a tractable model system. To overcome some challenges inherent in the existing MHV reverse genetics systems, we developed a plasmid-launched transformation-associated recombination (TAR) cloning-based system to assemble the MHV (strain A59; MHV-A59) genome.

Background: Over 65 million COVID-19 survivors grapple with lasting neurological and cognitive symptoms that persist for months or years after infection, known as neuro-Post-acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (neuro-PASC). These symptoms are amongst the most common and incapacitating and are hypothesized to represent a heighted risk for neurological disease. Yet, little is known about the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying neuro-PASC.
