AI Article Synopsis

  • Large genomic deletions (LGDs) ranging from 6 to 63 kbp were found in isoniazid-resistant mutants from four different strains.
  • The LGDs didn't affect overall growth but may impair intracellular growth and show varied responses to oxidative stress.
  • The deleted regions included 74 genes, mostly unknown, which could play a role in intracellular growth and defense against oxidative stress.

Article Abstract

Large genomic deletions (LGDs) (6 to 63 kbp) were observed in isoniazid-resistant mutants derived from four strains. These LGDs had no growth defect but could be defective in intracellular growth and showed various sensitivities toward oxidative stress despite lacking The LGD regions comprise 74 genes, mostly of unknown function, that may be important for intracellular growth and protection against oxidative stress.

Bulk electrical impedance spectroscopy (bio-capacitance) probes, hold significant promise for real-time cell monitoring in bioprocesses. Focusing on Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells, we present a sensitivity analysis framework to assess the impact of cell and culture properties on the complex permittivity spectrum, ε, and its associated parameters, permittivity increment, Δε, critical frequency, f, and Cole-Cole parameter, α, measured by bio-capacitance probes. Our sensitivity analysis showed that Δε is highly sensitive to cell size and concentration, making it suitable for estimating biovolume during the exponential growth phase, whereas f provides information about cumulative changes in cell size, membrane permittivity, and cytoplasm conductivity during the transition to death phase.

Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Heliopolis University, Cairo, Egypt.

Purpose: Nitrofurantoin (NITRO), a long-standing antibiotic to treat urinary tract infections, is activated by Nitro reductases. This activation mechanism has led to its exploration for repositioning applications in controlling and treating breast cancer, which express a Nitro reductase gene.

Methods: NITRO Cubosomes were developed using hot homogenization according to 2-full factorial design.

Background: Increased ribosome biogenesis is required for tumor growth. In this study, we investigated the function and underlying molecular mechanism of ribosome biogenesis factor (RBIS) in the progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: In our study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis to identify key genes implicated in ribosome biogenesis by leveraging a Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) dataset.

Aim: There remain limited therapies to treat thyroid eye disease (TED) orbital fibrosis, highlighting the urgency to develop novel targets. Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)-induced myofibroblast transdifferentiation from orbital fibroblasts are important pathogenetic factor of TED. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress may play a role in TED pathogenesis since it has been linked to liver, kidney, heart and lung fibrotic remodelling.

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Chemical Pollution Control and Resources Reuse, School of Environmental and Biological Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Xiao Ling Wei 200, Nanjing 210094, Jiangsu, China. Electronic address:

High temperature (HT) shock is one of environmental stressors suppressing microalgal activities in microalgal wastewater bioremediation system. However, its inhibition mechanism and how to alleviate such suppression remain inadequately understood. This study confirmed a transient ferroptosis as a novel form of programmed cell death in a wastewater-indigenous Chlorella sp.
