Following a request from the European Commission, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) Plant Health (PLH) Panel analysed a dossier submitted by the Japanese authorities in order to clarify the host status of with regard to pv. and pv. , causal agents of citrus bacterial canker, and to indicate whether fruit could represent a pathway for the introduction of citrus bacterial canker into the European Union. In a previous opinion in the year 2014, the EFSA PLH Panel concluded that commercial fresh citrus fruit is generally pathway and that no commercially important species or variety can be considered as immune to citrus bacterial canker. In the current assessment, the EFSA PLH Panel analysed the two scientific papers provided by the Japanese authorities, as well as 16 additional papers identified through a systematic literature review. The PLH Panel considered that the conclusions of its previous opinion remain valid and that convergent lines of evidence provide sufficient demonstration that is a host of pv. and pv. . Therefore, there is no reason to consider the fruit differently from other citrus species. Consequently, the assessment of the general citrus fruit pathway from the 2014 opinion still applies. Uncertainties on these conclusions are a result of the scarce scientific evidence published on this subject in addition to the methodological and reporting limitations of the published papers.

Mandarin, one of the winter fruits commonly used in the preparation of foods and juices, is a fruit native to China and Southeast Asia. In this work, essential oils (EOs) obtained from by-products of the Blanco flavedo of five cultivars present and cultivated within the Botanical Garden of Palermo were chemically and biologically studied: 'Avana' (), 'Tardivo di Ciaculli' (), 'Bombajensis' (), 'Aurantifolia' (), and 'Padre Bernardino' (). The GC and GC-MS analysis performed on all the extracted samples clearly highlighted the notable presence of limonene, a characteristic hydrocarbon monoterpene of EOs of the genus.

The phosphorus (P) availability in soils is influenced by microbes, particularly those containing the gene responsible for phosphate solubilization. The present study investigated the community structure, diversity, and co-occurrence networks of -harboring bacteria in karst and non-karst citrus orchard soils across a planting duration gradient, natural forests, and abandoned land, as well as the soil total P (TP) and available P (AP) contents and enzyme activities. The soil AP contents were lower in the karst regions than in the non-karst regions, while the soil organic carbon (C; SOC), exchangeable calcium, and microbial biomass nitrogen (N) contents; alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and β-Glucuronidase activities; and pH had the opposite trends.
