In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Cheminova Agro Italia Srl submitted a request to the competent national authority in Italy to modify the existing maximum residue level (MRL) for the active substance abamectin in bananas. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive MRL proposals for all crops under consideration. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of abamectin in the plant matrix under consideration. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the short-term and long-term intake of residues resulting from the use of abamectin according to the reported agricultural practice is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health.

Transfer learning aims to integrate useful information from multi-source datasets to improve the learning performance of target data. This can be effectively applied in genomics when we learn the gene associations in a target tissue, and data from other tissues can be integrated. However, heavy-tail distribution and outliers are common in genomics data, which poses challenges to the effectiveness of current transfer learning approaches.

Unlabelled: is an anaerobic and thermophilic bacterium that has been genetically engineered for ethanol production at very high yields. However, the underlying reactions responsible for electron flow, redox equilibrium, and how they relate to ethanol production in this microbe are not fully elucidated. Therefore, we performed a series of genetic manipulations to investigate the contribution of hydrogenase genes to high ethanol yield, generating evidence for the importance of hydrogen-reacting enzymes in ethanol production.

Understanding the relation between cortical neuronal network structure and neuronal activity is a fundamental unresolved question in neuroscience, with implications to our understanding of the mechanism by which neuronal networks evolve over time, spontaneously or under stimulation. It requires a method for inferring the structure and composition of a network from neuronal activities. Tracking the evolution of networks and their changing functionality will provide invaluable insight into the occurrence of plasticity and the underlying learning process.

This study introduces a sustainable biological approach for synthesizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Conocarpus seeds, aimed at improving the adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) in wastewater treatment. The photocatalytic efficiency of AgNPs, synthesized under varying concentrations of silver nitrate (AgNO) and pH levels, was evaluated, together with the effectiveness of a photocatalytic reactor. The synthesized samples were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Certepetide (aka LSTA1 and CEND-1) is a novel cyclic tumor-targeting internalizing arginyl glycylaspartic acid peptide being developed to treat solid tumors. Certepetide is designed to overcome existing challenges in treating solid tumors by delivering co-administered anticancer drugs into the tumor while selectively depleting immunosuppressive T cells, enhancing cytotoxic T cells in the tumor microenvironment, and inhibiting the metastatic cascade. A population pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis was conducted to characterize the concentration-time profile of patients with metastatic exocrine pancreatic cancer receiving certepetide in combination with nab-paclitaxel and gemcitabine, and to investigate the effects of clinically relevant covariates on PK parameters.
