Bimetallic Ag-Pt nanoparticles decorated on the surface of reduced graphene oxide (Ag-Pt/rGO) were designed and selected as a nanozyme for the assay of hydrogen peroxide. The nanocomposites were prepared through a one-pot reduction of potassium chloroplatinate, silver nitrate, and graphene oxide under ultraviolet irradiation without using any extra chemical reducing agents or surfactants. The successful formation of Ag-Pt/rGO nanocomposites was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy, energy disperse spectroscopy mapping, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Significantly, Ag-Pt/rGO nanocomposites possessed excellent peroxidase-like activity toward the catalytic oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine to form a blue product in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. Steady-state kinetics studies suggested that Ag-Pt/rGO nanocomposites had high affinity to hydrogen peroxide. Based on these properties, a convenient and sensitive method for the colorimetric determination of hydrogen peroxide was developed. Under optimal conditions, the absorbance at 652 nm increases linearly in the 10-100 μM and 100 μM-1 mM ranges of hydrogen peroxide concentration, and the detection limit is 0.9 μM (S/N = 3). The method was successfully applied to the determination of hydrogen peroxide in real water samples. Graphical abstract Ag-Pt/rGO nanocomposites were prepared by a one-pot UV irradiation method and used as a novel nanozyme for colorimetric determination of HO.

The emergence of self-propelling magnetic nanobots represents a significant advancement in the field of drug delivery. These magneto-nanobots offer precise control over drug targeting and possess the capability to navigate deep into tumor tissues, thereby addressing multiple challenges associated with conventional cancer therapies. Here, Fe-GSH-Protein-Dox, a novel self-propelling magnetic nanobot conjugated with a biocompatible protein surface and loaded with doxorubicin for the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), is reported.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative disease characterized by the progressive loss of articular cartilage. The role of cigarette smoke (CS) in OA is debated, with some studies suggesting a protective effect while others indicate it may pose a risk. Our preliminary findings suggest a link between smoking in young adults and severe knee OA, though the extent of this contribution is unclear.

Studies of in situ plant response and adaptation to complex environmental stresses, are crucial for understanding the mechanisms of formation and functioning of ecosystems of anthropogenically transformed habitats. We study short- and long-term responses of photosynthetic apparatus (PSA) and anti-oxidant capacity to complex abiotic stresses of common plants Calamagrostis epigejos and Solidago gigantea in semi-natural (C) and heavy metal contaminated habitats (LZ). We found significant differences in leaf pigment content between both plant species growing on LZ plots and their respective C populations.

The aim of the present study was to compare the antioxidant, antibacterial and antiviral activities of Podkarpackie coniferous honeydew honey and Manuka honey. The quality of tested honey samples (honeydew-12 and Manuka-4) regarding honey standard was evaluated as well as additional indicators (methylglyoxal, total phenolics and HPTLC phenolic profile, antioxidant potential, glucose oxidase activity, and hydrogen peroxide) were compared. Antibacterial potential was analyzed against Gram-positive (S.

Gas therapy represents a promising strategy for cancer treatment, with nitric oxide (NO) therapy showing particular potential in tumor therapy. However, ensuring sufficient production of NO remains a significant challenge. Leveraging ultrasound-responsive nanoparticles to promote the release of NO is an emerging way to solve this challenge.
