A simple and efficient ultrasonication-assisted liquid exfoliation method is proposed to produce PtS nanosheets on a large scale and improve their dispersion in aqueous solution by surface polyethylene glycol modification. The interaction of polyethylene glycol-modified PtS (PEG-PtS) nanosheets with fluorescent labeled DNA and the fluorescence quenching mechanism using FAM-labeled hpv16e6 gene fragment as a probe was investigated. The excitation and emission wavelengths were 468 and 517 nm, respectively. The fluorescence quenching mechanism of PEG-PtS nanosheets for double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) might stem from the static quenching effect. Based on the difference in fluorescence quenching capability of PEG-PtS nanosheets in fluorescent probe tagged single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) and dsDNA, a mix-and-detect method was proposed for determination of DNA. Without the need for probe immobilization and tedious washing steps, the genotyping of human papillomavirus (HPV) was easily achieved. The limit of detection was calculated to 0.44 nM, showing a good linear range within 0.05-10 nM. We believe this biosensor provides opportunities to develop a simple and low-cost strategy for molecular diagnostics. Graphical abstract.

Electrolytic glucose oxidation has garnered great interest in energy-saving hydrogen generation. However, high charge-transfer resistance and inefficient active centers have been recognized as the primary issues for poor electrochemical performance. In this study, for the first time, we offer a novel defect-rich CeO /β-Ni(OH) composite nanosheet-decorated Ni foam electrocatalyst (denoted as Ce@NF-GA), synthesized a unique hydrothermal approach under the co-participation of glycerol and acetic acid.

Probing the synergistic effects of amino compounds in mitigating oxidation in 2D TiCT MXene nanosheets in aqueous environments.

The shelf life of 2D MXenes in functional devices and colloidal dispersions is compromised due to oxidation in the aqueous system. Herein, a systematic investigation was carried out to explore the potential of various amino compounds as antioxidants for TiCT MXenes. A range of basic, acidic, and neutral amino acids were examined for their effectiveness, where certain antioxidants failed to protect MXenes from oxidation, while others accelerated their decomposition.

Artificial heterostructures are often realized by stacking different materials to present new emerging properties that are not exhibited by their individual constituents. In this work, non-layered two-dimensional α-MnSe nanosheets were transferred onto LaMnO (LMO) films to obtain a multifunctional heterostructure. The high crystal quality of the MnSe/LMO heterostructure was revealed by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy measurements.

An ultrasensitive and selective voltammetric platform combined a molecularly imprinted poly(pyrrole) membrane with Ag-nanoparticle-functionalized black phosphorus nanosheets (MIP/BPNS-AgNPs) was developed for trace GAT detection. The physicochemical properties of the MIP/BPNS-AgNPs were studied by various spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques. BPNS-AgNPs improved the ambient stability and electrochemical activity of the BPNS and possessed a large surface area for accommodating abundant templates to produce specific imprinted sites.

Ordered Photoexfoliation for Polypseudorotaxane Nanosheets.

ACS Macro Lett

State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers, Department of Macromolecular Science, Fudan University, Shanghai 200438, China.

Two-dimensional layered structural materials exhibit a wide range of properties due to their ultrahigh specific surface area. However, achieving ordered exfoliation to obtain uniform two-dimensional structures remains challenging. In this study, we developed a supramolecular system by covalently bonding hexathiobenzene (HB) into β-cyclodextrin to create a light-responsive moiety, followed by coassembly with bipyridine and nickel ions to form a polypseudorotaxane (PR) system, which enables an light-induced exfoliation strategy for two-dimensional materials.
