Background: Aortic stenosis (AS) remains a prevalent and serious global health concern, exacerbated by an aging population worldwide. This valvular disease, when symptomatic and without appropriate intervention, severe AS can drastically reduce life expectancy. In our systematic review and -analysis, we aim to synthesize available evidence to guide clinical decision-making by comparing the performance of TAVR and SAVR, specifically in patients with severe AS and a small aortic annulus.

Abnormal p53 High-Grade Endometrioid Endometrial Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Cancers (Basel)

December 2024

Comprehensive Health Research Center (CHRC), NOVA Medical School, Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, NMS, FCM, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, 1099-085 Lisbon, Portugal.

Objective: Our primary objective was to evaluate the oncologic outcomes of patients with abnormal p53 FIGO grade 3 (high-grade) endometrioid endometrial cancer. As secondary objectives, we determined the global prevalence of abnormal p53 in grade 3 endometrioid endometrial carcinomas and the geographical variations.

Methods: The following electronic databases were searched: PubMed/Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Web of Science.

Objectives: There is an ongoing debate whether percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is the better choice for treatment of left main (LM) stenosis. We aimed to provide external validation for the recently reviewed guideline recommendations for invasive LM therapy by evaluating the impact of CABG or PCI on long-term survival from local reports of different regions in the world. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to address contemporary registry studies comparing PCI and CABG for patients with LM stenosis.

Background: Transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention (TTVI) has demonstrated safety and efficacy in treating high-risk patients with tricuspid regurgitation (TR). The authors aimed to perform a meta-analysis based on reconstructed time-to-event data to compare the clinical benefit of TTVI with medical therapy (MED).

Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in major databases, including PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library, until 20 October 2023.

Background: Sex, as a biological construct, and gender, defined as the cultural attitudes and behaviours attributed by society, may be associated with allograft loss, death, cancer, and rejection. Other factors, such as recipient age and donor sex, may modify the association between sex/gender and post-transplant outcomes.

Objectives: We sought to evaluate the prognostic effects of recipient sex and, separately, gender as independent predictors of graft loss, death, cancer, and allograft rejection following kidney or simultaneous pancreas-kidney (SPK) transplantation.
