Increased serum values of aminoterminal type III procollagen peptide and hyaluronan (hyaluronate) and enhanced urinary content of hydroxyproline and hydroxylsine containing polypeptides were demonstrated in patients with progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS). The serum propeptide level and the relative urinary excretion of hydroxyproline as polypeptides were related to the extent of cutaneous involvement. Elevated serum propeptide and hyaluronan values were seen in patients who progressed within the following 6 months. Patients with CREST syndrome had normal propeptide values. Reduced renal propeptide clearance is a likely cause of high serum levels of propeptide degradation products demonstrated in PSS. Serum propeptide seems to be a useful novel marker for disease activity and progression in PSS because of its linkage to the actual connective tissue metabolism.

Limb lengthening and deformity correction techniques, particularly distraction osteogenesis, have significantly evolved in pediatric orthopedics. This study examines the temporal changes of key biochemical markers-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF-1), and the propeptide of type I collagen (P1NP)-during the limb lengthening process. Twenty pediatric patients (aged 13-16) underwent distraction osteogenesis using the Circular Hexapod External Fixator.

Background/objectives: Bone turnover markers (BTMs) can provide information on the bone growth of apparently healthy children and adolescents or useful results in the diagnosis and monitoring of the disease condition, comparing them with appropriate reference intervals (RIs). The aim of this study was to establish the RI for the BTM [specific bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP), carboxy-terminal cross-linked collagen type I telopeptide (CTX), N-terminal propeptide pro-collagen type I (PINP), osteocalcin (OC), resistant to acid tartrate phosphatase isoform 5b (TRAcP-5b)] on serum samples from children and adolescents.
Method: 202 samples from children and adolescents (ages 1-18 years) (51.

Background: Currently, the pathophysiology of new bone formation in radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (r-axSpA) remains unclear. Cellular elements and their secreted bone turnover markers might be one of the underlying mechanisms that drive the new bone formation. Our study aimed to investigate the role of bone turnover markers in r-axSpA patients with fatty lesions.

Introduction: Bone turnover markers reflected the bone remodeling process and bone health in clinical studies. Studies on variation of bone remodeling markers in different stage CKD were scant, and this study investigated the role of bedside intradialytic cycling in altering concentrations of bone-remodeling markers in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Materials And Methods: Participants were segmented into four groups: a group with eGFR >60 ml/min/1.

Objective: Research on the link between inflammatory indicators and markers of bone metabolism is currently lacking, especially the interaction between Procollagen type 1 N-terminal propeptide (P1NP), the β-C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen (β-CTX), and the fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR). This study intends to fill that knowledge gap by investigating the possible link between inflammatory indicators and bone metabolism.
Methods: This observational study included 718 individuals diagnosed with osteoporotic fractures from Kunshan Hospital Affiliated to Jiangsu University between January 2017 and July 2022.
