A glassy carbon electrode (GC) immobilized with chitosan (CHI)@reduced graphene (rGO)-polyaniline (PAni)/ferritin (Frt)/glucose oxidase (GOx) bioelectrode was prepared. The prepared electrode was characterized by using cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The morphological characterization was made by scanning electron microsopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. This bioelectrode provided a stable current response of 3.5 ± 0.02 mAcm in 20 mM glucose. The coverage of enzyme on 0.07 cm area of electrode modified with CHI@rGO-PAni/Frt was calculated to be 3.80 × 10 mol cm.

Chitosan salicylaldehyde/calcium oxide nanoparticle (CS-SL/CaO) was synthesized by hydrothermal process and isolated via different drying processes, namely, air-drying (AD) and freeze-drying (FD). The physicochemical properties of freeze-dried CS-SL/CaO nanoparticle (CS-SL/CaO-FD) and air-dried CS-SL/CaO nanoparticle (CS-SL/CaO-AD) were compared. In particular, the adsorption properties reveal that the specific surface area of CS-SL/CaO-FD increased by ca.

Polylactic acid (PLA) is a bio-recyclable plastic, but its high flammability limits broader applications. Here, a novel flame retardant (Zn-CHP) is synthesized from chitosan (CH), diethylenetriaminepenta (methylenephosphonic) acid (DTPMP), and ZnCl₂ using a simple, solvent-free process. The Zn-CHP additive is melt-blended with PLA, achieving excellent flame retardancy at just 2 wt% loading.

Biocompatible and degradable hydrogels are extensively utilized for the delivery and controlled release of bioactive agents. Chitosan/squid ring teeth protein (SRT) hydrogels (CH/SRTs) cross-linked by genipin were fabricated, and their gel properties and structural characteristics were analyzed across varying SRT contents. Additionally, the curcumin-release behavior of curcumin-loaded CH/SRTs (Cur-CH/SRTs) was evaluated.

This study presents a new approach for fabricating 3D-printed self-healing hydrogels via light-assisted 3D printing, utilizing Schiff-base and covalent bonding formations resulting from the reaction between amine and aldehyde functional groups alongside the photopolymerization of methacrylate groups. Two distinct polymers, carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCs) and dextran, were first modified to yield methacrylate-modified carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCs-MA) and oxidized dextran (OD). The structural modifications of these polymers were confirmed using spectroscopic techniques, including H NMR and FTIR analyses.

Bacteriocin can effectively improve the gut inflammation for their superior antibacterial activity. However, its inherent attributes, such as easily degraded and off-target effect in the gastrointestinal environment, make bacteriocins' efficient oral delivery a great challenge. Herein, a pectin/4-carboxyphenylboric acid/carboxymethyl chitosan (PEC/CPBA/CMCS) hydrogel microbead targeted oral delivery system was innovatively developed for the plantaricin RX-8 protective delivery, precisely targeted inflammatory microenvironment (IME) and sustained released plantaricin RX-8 by pH/ROS dual stimulation response.
