The preparation of novel polymer aerogel materials with enhanced flame-retardancy, superior thermal insulation and mechanical strength is of great practical significance in energy-savings and fire-prevention for buildings. Herein, we reported the fiber-reinforced polybenzoxazine (PBO) aerogel composites with flame retardance and thermal insulation, which were prepared under room temperature and atmospheric pressure, and using 4,4'-diaminodiphenlymethane (MDA) benzoxazine monomer as the raw material and oxalic acid (OA) as the catalyst. Several outstanding attributes were achieved in the aerogel composites, such as relatively low thermal conductivity (0.069 W/m·K at 10 Pa, 0.031 W/m·K at 5 Pa), high limiting oxygen index (LOI) up to 32.5, and enhanced mechanical properties. It can be compressed to more than 80% of the deformation without obvious cracks, and shows high compressive modulus and specific modulus (20.69 MPa and 5.05 × 10 N·m/Kg, respectively). All the excellent comprehensive properties mean that fiber-reinforced PBO aerogel composites have broad application prospects in the fields of flame retardancy and thermal insulation.

The exploration of pure organic ultra-long room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials has emerged as a research hotspot in recent years. Herein, a simple strategy for fabricating long-afterglow polymer aerogels with three-dimensional ordered structures and environmental monitoring capabilities is proposed. Based on the non-covalent interactions between pectin (PC) and melamine formaldehyde (MF), a composite aerogel (PCMF@phenanthrene) (PCMF@PA) doped with phosphorescent organic small molecules was constructed.

The desire to reduce secondary pollution from shielded electronics devices demands electromagnetic interference (EMI) shields with high green index (GI), which is the ratio of absorbance over reflectance. Achieving high GI values simultaneously with high shielding effectiveness (SE) over 50 dB is a serious unresolved challenge. Reducing the impedance mismatch between the shield and free space is the key to reducing the reflection of incoming radiation and enabling more penetration into the body of the shield for absorption.

Activated carbon is extensively utilized in blood purification applications. However, its performance has been significantly limited by their poor blood compatibility. In this work, 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCN) and activated carbon (AC) were used to form composite beads by the drop curing method to improve hemocompatibility.

Yunnan Provincial Key Laboratory of Wood Adhesives and Glued Products, Southwest Forestry University, Kunming 650224, Yunnan, China. Electronic address:

Cellulose composites have exceptional qualities, particularly in removing heavy metal ions. Nevertheless, these materials' poor mechanical qualities and the restricted exposure of surface-active sites reduce the effectiveness of their removal. The removal efficiency of adsorbent materials largely depends on their macroscopic structural characteristics.

Environmental pollution, stemming from the disposal of contaminants, poses severe threats to ecosystems and human health. The emergence of a new class of pollutants, termed emerging contaminants (ECs), in soil, water, and air has raised global concerns, aligning with the UN 2030 Agenda's Sustainable Development Goals. Aerogels, three-dimensional structures with high porosity and low density, offer promise in addressing this issue.
