Systematic ac susceptibility measurements have been carried out to study the vortex dynamics in CaKFeAsand BaKFeAssingle crystals under various temperatures, dc magnetic fields, ac field frequencies and amplitudes. The field-temperature phase diagrams were shown, and the characteristics of irreversibility line were also derived. The specific expressions of activation energy on the parameters of temperature (), current density (), and dc magnetic field () are obtained according to these data. The results indicate that both superconductors have similar functional expressions of activation energy and flux pinning behaviors. Though both CaKFeAsand BaKFeAssuperconductors exhibit very strong flux pinning ability, the vortex pinning potential in CaKFeAsis slightly smaller than that in BaKFeAswhich may result from its distorted FeAs-tetrahedron in CaKFeAs. The depinning critical current densities at the limit of low temperature and low field were also extrapolated, yielding the corresponding values of(0) ∼ 1.0 × 10and 2.2 × 10A cmfor CaKFeAsand BaKFeAssuperconductors, respectively, which suggest potential applications.

Objectives: This study investigated the effects of different whitening toothpaste (WT) on the surface properties and staining susceptibility of a resin composite.
Methods: Cylindrical samples were prepared with a micro-hybrid resin composite and were randomized into groups according to the toothpaste (n = 12): distilled water (DW), regular toothpaste (RT), WT with silica + pyrophosphate (WT-S/P), WT with pentaphosphate and pyrophosphate (WT-P/P), WT with hydrogen peroxide and pyrophosphate (WT-HP/P) and WT with charcoal and pyrophosphate (WT-Ch/P). The samples were brushed for 825 cycles in an automatic brushing machine, simulating 30 days of brushing.

Few studies have systematically compared the overlap and complementarity of family history (FH) and polygenic risk score (PRS) in terms of disease risk. We here investigated the impacts of FH and PRS on the risk of incident diseases or age at disease onset, as well as their clinical value in risk prediction. We analyzed 12 diseases in the prospective cohort study of UK Biobank (N = 461,220).

Single-bacterium diagnostic methods with unprecedented precision and rapid turnaround times are promising tools for facilitating the transition from empirical treatment to personalized anti-infection treatment. Terahertz (THz) radiation, a cutting-edge technology for identifying pathogens, enables the label-free and non-destructive detection of intermolecular vibrational modes and bacterial dielectric properties. However, this individual dielectric property-based detection and the mismatched spatial resolution are limited for the single-bacterium identification of various species of pathogens.

Background: The nutritional status of communities susceptible to Buruli ulcer (BU, a skin NTD caused by infection with Mycobacterium ulcerans) remains almost completely obscure. We have assessed the diets of BU patients vs. controls from the same BU-endemic communities, and compared their circulating biomarkers of nutrients and inflammation.

Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is a metalloenzyme widely used in various biochemical applications but is susceptible to activity loss and instability under suboptimal conditions. In this study, rhamnolipid (RL) was, for the first time, employed as an additive to enhance the catalytic performance of HRP, including in a dual-enzyme cascade system with glucose oxidase (GOx). We carried out catalytic experiments on phenol degradation and showed that protecting HRP from deactivation is critical in maintaining the high catalytic effect in the dual-enzyme cascade.
