The ultrasonic extraction (UE) technology, possessed the advantages of effective, energy-saving, and environmental-friendly, was applied to extract the anthocyanin from (LR). The extraction parameters of UE were optimized by response surface methodology (RSM) with Box-Behnken design (BBD). Anthocyanin composition in LR fruits grown in China was systematically identified and quantified by HPLC-ESI-MS. The result showed that PRG was the major anthocyanin, and delphinidin, petunidin, and malvidin were the major anthocyanidins in LR fruits. There was the same anthocyanin composition of LR and great variation in anthocyanins content of LR from different areas in China. However, there was no significant difference between wild and cultivated LR in the same region. A clear separation of LR according to geographical origins was revealed by hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA), and the discrimination model for the anthocyanin concentrations were developed using these two analysis methods. Furthermore, on-line HPLC-DPPH assay and scavenging activity of three kinds of radicals (DPPH·, ·OH, and ) in vitro were well applied to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the LR anthocyanin extract (LRAE). And its results indicated the LRAE could be a credible antioxidant agent for applications in cosmetics, food, and medicine.

In order to accurately investigate the key microstructures in the spontaneous combustion exothermic process of coal, an ultrasonic extraction method was employed to extract the coal, and the complex microscopic groups within it were stripped and studied. On this basis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry were employed to assess the content of microscopic groups and the exothermic characteristics of the raw and extracted coal samples. The findings indicated that toluene and methanol demonstrated a notable capacity for extracting aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbon compounds from coal, whereas -methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) and ethylenediamine (EDA) exhibited a pronounced effect on oxygen-containing functional groups and hydroxyl groups.

Dual-frequency ultrasonic oxidation of cyanobacterial toxins (MC-LR and MC-RR) at drinking water resources: Assessment of analytical methods and ultrasonic reactor configuration.

Ultrason Sonochem

December 2024

Ataturk University, Engineering Faculty, Environmental Engineering Department, Erzurum 25240, TÜRKİYE. Electronic address:

Ultrasonic oxidation provides the degradation of a wide range of water pollutants to the final products defined as carbon dioxide, short-chain organic acids, and inorganic ions, typically less toxic and favorable to biodegradation. In this study, it was investigated the application of novel ultrasonic reactor that allows the several combinations of low (20 kHz and 40 kHz) and high frequency ultrasonic piezoceramic transducer (578 kHz, 862 kHz and 1142 kHz) to degrade two main cyanobacterial toxins, Microcystin-RR (MC-RR) and Microcystin-LR (MC-LR). A plate transducer operating at different frequencies (40 kHz or 578 kHz/862 kHz/1142 kHz) was combined with a probe (20 kHz) as well as two plate transducers 40 kHz and 578 kHz/862 kHz/1142 kHz were combined to provide dual frequency ultrasonic reactor (DFUR).

Instituto de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación en Biotecnología Sanitaria de Elche (IDiBE), Universidad Miguel Hernández, 03202 Elche, Alicante, Spain. Electronic address:

The biological activity of polysaccharides used for nutraceuticals/drug excipients has been a neglected area of study. This work deals with the preparation, optimization, characterization, and evaluation of persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.) fruit by-products and the study of the resultant dietary fiber (DF) interaction with other compounds, using acetaminophen as a model.
