This research evaluated the potential of using the methanol extract of (L.) Burm.f (AVM) to prevent the formation of AGEs by means of the BSA/glucose assay, BSA-methylglyoxal assay, arginine-methylglyoxal assay, fructosamine, N-(carboxymethyl) lysine (CML), thiol groups, and carbonyl protein . The effect of AVM was also evaluated with regard to inhibiting the enzymes -amylase, -glucosidase, and pancreatic lipase. For this, the plant was dried, ground, and subsequently macerated with methanol. methanol extract (AVM) significantly decreased the formation of AGEs, as well as the formation of fructosamine, CML, and carbonyl protein. The concentration of 5 mg/ml of AVM presented the best results. AVM significantly inhibited the -amylase and -glucosidase enzymes. As regards the content of thiol groups, a significant increase was observed during the four weeks of the experiment. So, we can conclude that methanol extract decreases the formation of AGEs and may inhibit the increase in postprandial glucose, suggesting that AVM can prevent diabetes complications associated with AGE.

Synthetic antidiabetic drugs are often associated with various adverse side effects, including hypoglycemia, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, and even liver damage. In contrast, plant-derived natural antidiabetic bioactive compounds typically exhibit lower toxicity and fewer side effects and have been reported to aid effectively in diabetes management. These plant extracts regulate diabetes by restoring pancreatic function, enhancing insulin secretion, inhibiting intestinal glucose absorption, and facilitating insulin dependent metabolism.

Triterpenoids are known for their promising biological activities, and there is a growing focus on green extraction methods for these compounds. In this study, ultrasound-assisted deep eutectic solvents were employed to extract triterpenoids from persimmon leaves, with choline chloride-lactic acid identified as an effective green solvent. The extraction conditions were carefully optimized using response surface methodology, resulting in an extraction efficiency of 12.

Heliotropium indicum is well-known for its diverse medicinal properties, traditionally utilized to treat ailments such as diabetes, obesity, bacterial infections, inflammation, and diarrhea. This study aims to explore the anti-inflammatory effects of the extract using in vitro methods and to assess its drug-likeness potential using docking, PASS and ADME. Fractionations of crude methanol extract (CME) were undertaken in n-hexane (NHF), chloroform (CHF), and ethyl acetate (EAF).
