Introduction: infection (CDI) is one of the most important challenges in contemporary gastroenterology. However, data from CDI studies are sometimes contradictory.
Aim: To analyse the risk factors for CDI in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Background: Differentiation of patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) helps researchers to study the individual sensibility to drugs. However, differentiation protocols are time-consuming, and not all tissues have been studied. Few works are available regarding pancreatic exocrine differentiation of iPS cells, and little is known on culturing and cryopreserving these cells.

Long interspersed nuclear elements 1 (LINE-1) are the most abundant and the only autonomous mobile elements in the human genome. When their epigenetic repression is removed, it can lead to disease, such as autoimmune diseases and cancer. Coeliac disease (CeD) is an immune-mediated disease triggered by an abnormal T-cell response to dietary gluten and a predisposing condition of small bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA), frequently characterized by epigenetic alterations.

The gastrointestinal tract is a multi-organ system crucial for efficient nutrient uptake and barrier immunity. Advances in genomics and a surge in gastrointestinal diseases has fuelled efforts to catalogue cells constituting gastrointestinal tissues in health and disease. Here we present systematic integration of 25 single-cell RNA sequencing datasets spanning the entire healthy gastrointestinal tract in development and in adulthood.

Purpose: This study aimed to establish and characterize patient-derived intestinal organoids (PDOs) from children with Crohn's disease (CD).
Methods: To generate PDOs, endoscopic biopsy specimens were obtained from non-inflamed duodenal bulbs of normal controls and CD patients. To verify the presence of PDOs, histological staining and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) analyses were performed.
