Background: Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-2 (LRP2), also called megalin, is a multi-ligand receptor of the LDL receptor gene family mediating reabsorption of ligands like Apo-A1. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) may possibly disrupt megalin functions as it is found to be regulated by insulin. This might cause cardiovascular complications due to derangement in lipoprotein metabolism.

Population-based cohort studies are essential for understanding the pathological basis of dementia in older populations. Previous studies have shown that limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy neuropathologic change (LATE-NC) increases with age, but there have been only a few studies, which have investigated this entity in a population-based setting. Here we studied the frequency of LATE-NC and its associations with other brain pathologies and cognition in a population aged ≥ 85 years.

We identified the Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) Receptor Related Protein-2 (LRP-2) in a RNAi screen for genes that regulate glutamatergic behavior in . loss-of-function mutants have defects in glutamatergic mechanosensory nose-touch behavior and suppress increased spontaneous reversals induced by GLR-1(A/T), a constitutively-active form of the AMPA-type glutamate receptor GLR-1. Total and surface levels of GLR-1 are increased throughout the ventral nerve cord of mutants suggesting that LRP-2 promotes glutamatergic signaling by regulating some aspect of GLR-1 trafficking, localization or function.

This study aimed to assess the relationship and possible interactions between metallothioneins (MTs) and megalin (LRP-2) in different grades of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and premalignant lesions of the oral mucosa (oral leukoplakia and oral lichen planus). The study included archived samples of 114 patients and control subjects. Protein expression was examined by immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, and staining quantification was performed by ImageJ software.

Background: The incidence of prostate cancer in renal transplant recipients (RTR) is similar to the general population. Radical prostatectomy (RP) is the standard of care in the management of clinically localized cancer, but is considered complicated due to the presence of adhesions, and the location of transplanted ureter/kidney. To date, a few case series or studies on RP in RTR have been published, especially in Asian patients.
