[Purpose] This study aimed to identify factors that inhibit the social activities of adult daycare users. [Participants and Methods] Based on participation in social activities, we categorized adult daycare users into two groups; socially active and inactive. Using a questionnaire, the socially inactive group were surveyed for their reasons for non-participation in social activities.

Introduction: Laryngeal muscle physiology is integral to many speech, voice, swallowing, and respiratory functions. A key determinant of a muscle's contractile properties, including its fatigue profile and capacity for force production, is the myosin heavy chain (MyHC) isoform that predominates in the muscle. This study surveys literature on the MyHC compositions of mammalian intrinsic laryngeal skeletal muscle to illustrate trends and gaps in laryngeal muscle fiber typing techniques, models, and concepts.

The round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) is a benthic fish species native to Central Eurasia but has colonized much of the waterways in the Laurentian Great Lakes in North America. While they are known to produce acoustic signals that aid in conspecific agonistic and reproductive interactions, the species does not possess a swim bladder and thus does not have any hearing specializations that would allow for sound pressure detection. Here, the auditory evoked potentials from saccular hair cells were characterized to determine the frequency response and auditory sensitivity of the saccule.
