Two recent reports by Cramer and Ben-Shem and colleagues present high-resolution structures of the yeast SAGA transcription coactivator complex. These are the first to resolve the stoichiometry and structure of the core. The core contains an octamer-like fold, flexibly links the enzymatic modules, and facilitates TBP loading onto TATA promoters.

Lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE) is a bioactive lipid mediator involved in diverse cellular functions. In this study, we investigated the effects of three LPE species, 1-palmitoyl LPE (16:0 LPE), 1-stearoyl LPE (18:0 LPE), and 1-oleoyl LPE (18:1 LPE) on pre-osteoblast MC3T3-E1 cells. All LPE species stimulated cell proliferation and activated the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2.

Chromosomal instability (CIN) is common in solid tumours and fuels evolutionary adaptation and poor prognosis by increasing intratumour heterogeneity. Systematic characterization of driver events in the TRACERx non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cohort identified that genetic alterations in six genes, including FAT1, result in homologous recombination (HR) repair deficiencies and CIN. Using orthogonal genetic and experimental approaches, we demonstrate that FAT1 alterations are positively selected before genome doubling and associated with HR deficiency.

Background: Lateral pelvic lymph node dissection (LPND) is a challenging surgical technique with complex anatomy and narrow pelvic manipulation. The outcomes of robotic and laparoscopic surgery for LPND are still unclear.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 169 consecutive patients who underwent rectal cancer surgery with LPND between 2016 and 2023.

In previous studies, we found that the zinc finger proteins Su(Hw) and CG9890 interact with the Drosophila SAGA complex and participate in the formation of the active chromatin structure and transcription regulation. In this research, we discovered the interaction of the DUB module of the SAGA complex with another zinc finger protein, CG9609. ChIP-Seq analysis was performed, and CG9609 binding sites in the Drosophila genome were identified.

Heart failure is a leading cause of death among people worldwide. The cost of treatment can be prohibitive, and early prediction of heart failure would reduce treatment costs to patients and hospitals. Improved readmission prediction would also greatly help hospitals, allowing them to manage their treatment programs and budgets better.
