Dahuang zhechong pill (DHZCP) is a famous traditional Chinese medicine prescription, which is widely used in the treatment of liver diseases. However, due to the lack of a dynamic DHZCP profile, the in vivo pharmacokinetics of active ingredients within this medicine remains unknown. In this paper, a rapid, sensitive and reliable UHPLC-MS/MS method was used to determine the content of 19 characteristic constituents of DHZCP in rat plasma, including rhein, emodin, chrysophanol, physcion, aloeemodin, p-methoxyphenylacetic acid, hypoxanthine nucleoside, wogonin, wogonoside, baicalin, norwogonin, naringenin, nutmeg acid, paeoniflorin, verbascoside, rhodiola glucoside, forsythoside A, formononetin, and glycyrrhizic acid. An Agilent Extend-C column (2.1 mm × 100 mm, 1.8 μm) was used to separate the 19 characteristic constituents, with a mobile phrase of (A) 0.1% formic acid and (B) acetonitrile. The constituents were detected in negative ion mode with multiple reactions monitoring (MRM). The established UHPLC-MS/MS method had good linearity, with a coefficient of determination (r) of >0.99. The daytime and intra-day precision were less than 12%, and the accuracy ranged from -9.56% to 7.82%. The stability, extraction recovery, and matrix effect met the requirements. The method was successfully applied to the pharmacokinetic study of these nineteen characteristic constituents after oral administration of DHZCP. UHPLC-MS/MS was used for the first time to study the pharmacokinetics of the characteristic chemical constituents in DHZCP, which provided reference and theoretical guidance for further clarification of its pharmacodynamic basis.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and its development typically involves complex metabolic reprogramming. By mapping the spatial distributions of metabolites and -glycans in heterogeneous colorectal cancer tissues, we can elucidate cancer-associated metabolic and -glycan changes. Herein, we combine mass spectrometry imaging-based metabolomics and -glycomics to characterize the spatially resolved reprogramming of metabolites and -glycans in colorectal cancer tissues.

The present work reports a clear and improved hydrothermal methodology for the synthesis of MoSe nanoflowers (MNFs) at 210 °C. To observe the effect of temperature on the fascinating properties, the process temperature was modified by ±10 °C. The as-prepared MNFs were found to consist of 2D nanosheets, which assembled into a 3D flower-like hierarchical morphology van der Waals forces.

Background: Although multimodality treatment, including chemoradiotherapy and surgery has significantly improved the prognosis of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), a valid predictor is crucial for individualized treatment. As acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4) and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) are key genes with radiation responses and constituents of the ferroptosis signaling pathway, the present study adopted ACSL4 and GPX4 protein expression to explore their predictive and prognostic value in patients with ESCC receiving adjuvant radiotherapy.

Methods: A total of 108 patients with thoracic ESCC who had undergone radical surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy were enrolled in the present retrospectively study.

Waste plastic oils (WPOs) can help address the global energy crisis caused by the rapid depletion of fossil fuels, global warming, and strict emission regulations. The present research delves into the intricate interplay of higher alcohol blends in the context of combustion, performance, and emission characteristics within a common rail direct injection engine. In this regard, 1-hexanol has been selected as the blending constituent for the WPO to tackle emission challenges while concurrently reducing dependence on conventional fuel, as it stands out for its enhanced fuel properties compared to lower alcohols.

Essentially, the blood-brain barrier (BBB) serves as a line of demarcation between neural tissues and the bloodstream. A unique and protective characteristic of the blood-brain barrier is its ability to maintain cerebral homeostasis by regulating the flux of molecules and ions. The inability to uphold proper functioning in any of these constituents leads to the disruption of this specialized multicellular arrangement, consequently fostering neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration.
