Unlabelled: Transcanal endoscopic ear surgery provides a minimally invasive approach to the middle ear. We operate exclusively by the two handed technique of endoscopic ear surgery with Endoscope holders. We have incorporated the technique of stay suture for retraction of external ear canal into our practice of transcanal two handed endoscopic ear surgery after observing this technique by Prof Muaaz Tarabichi at the First International Congress on Endoscopic ear surgery Dubai, April 2015 for the single handed endoscopic ear surgery.
Aim: To report our experience of the stay suture in transcanal two handed endoscopic ear surgery and highlight its advantages.
Design: Prospective non randomized clinical study.
Methods And Materials: A total of 354 two handed transcanal endoscopic ear surgeries (202 endoscopic cartilage tympanoplasties and 152 endoscopic attic cholesteatoma surgeries) with endoscope holders operated from May 2015 to September 2017 with the stay suture were included in the study.
Results: The ear canal and the tympanic membrane visualisation, instrument manipulation were better with the stay suture technique of pinna retraction.
Conclusion: The study reports the successful application and use of the pinna stay suture. It is a good option during two handed technique in Endoscopic Ear Surgery for pinna retraction.
Level Of Evidence: Level 4.

Background: Recent advances in artificial intelligence have facilitated the automatic diagnosis of middle ear diseases using endoscopic tympanic membrane imaging.
Aim: We aimed to develop an automated diagnostic system for middle ear diseases by applying deep learning techniques to tympanic membrane images obtained during routine clinical practice.
Material And Methods: To augment the training dataset, we explored the use of generative adversarial networks (GANs) to produce high-quality synthetic tympanic images that were subsequently added to the training data.

Pulmonary involvement is commonly observed in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV), presenting with manifestations such as diffuse alveolar hemorrhage, inflammatory infiltrates, pulmonary nodules, and tracheobronchial disease. We aimed to identify distinct subgroups of tracheobronchial disease patterns in patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) using latent class analysis (LCA), and to evaluate their clinical characteristics and outcomes. We conducted a retrospective cohort study using electronic medical records of patients aged >18 years diagnosed with AAV and tracheobronchial disease between 1 January 2002 and 6 September 2022.

We present a case of a perilymphatic fistula (PLF) caused by Eustachian tube air inflation (ETAI) that was diagnosed using cochlin-tomoprotein (CTP) testing and successfully treated using transcanal endoscopic ear surgery to seal the inner ear window. A 77-year-old woman developed hearing loss and dizziness after undergoing ETAI at a local ear, nose, and throat clinic. Despite initial bed rest and steroid pulse therapy, the hearing did not improve, and transcanal endoscopic ear surgery was performed to repair the PLF.

Objective: The efficacy of the transcanal endoscopic approach in tympanoplasty, cholesteatoma removal, and stapedotomy is detailed. This study reviews evidence on the feasibility of endoscopic ossiculoplasty as a suitable alternative to traditional microscopic ossiculoplasty.
Data Sources: PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched from inception to 19 June 2024 for articles comparing endoscopic and microscopic ossicular chain reconstruction.
Objectives: To evaluate the otolaryngology surgical capacity in Harare, Zimbabwe by analyzing procedural volumes across four hospitals, one private and three public, from 2019 to 2022.
Methods: A retrospective review of hand-written surgical case logs was conducted at Harare Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Institute (HEENT), Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals (PGH), Sally Mugabe Children's Hospital (SMCH), and Sally Mugabe Adult's Hospital (SMAH). Patient age and surgical intervention for all otolaryngology surgeries performed in the operating room from 2019 to 2022 were recorded.
