In polar oxide interfaces phenomena such as superconductivity, magnetism, 1D conductivity, and quantum Hall states can emerge at the polar discontinuity. Combining controllable ferroelectricity at such interfaces can affect the superconducting properties and sheds light on the mutual effects between the polar oxide and the ferroelectric oxide. Here, the interface between the polar oxide LaAlO and the ferroelectric Ca-doped SrTiO is studied by means of electrical transport combined with local imaging of the current flow with the use of scanning a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). Anomalous behavior of the interface resistivity is observed at low temperatures. The scanning SQUID maps of the current flow suggest that this behavior originates from an intrinsic bias induced by the polar LaAlO layer. Such intrinsic bias combined with ferroelectricity can constrain the possible structural domain tiling near the interface. The use of this intrinsic bias is recommended as a method of controlling and tuning the initial state of ferroelectric materials by the design of the polar structure. The hysteretic dependence of the normal and the superconducting state properties on gate voltage can be utilized in multifaceted controllable memory devices.

Flap techniques are indispensable in modern surgery because of their role in repairing tissue defects and restoring function. Ischemia-reperfusion and oxidative stress-induced injuries are the main causes of flap failure. Oxidative stress exacerbates cell damage through the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby affecting flap function and survival.

Succinate is a pivotal tricarboxylic acid cycle metabolite but also specifically activates the G- and G-coupled succinate receptor 1 (SUCNR1). Contradictory roles of succinate and succinate-SUCNR1 signaling include reports about its anti- or pro-inflammatory effects. The link between cellular metabolism and localization-dependent SUCNR1 signaling qualifies as a potential cause for the reported conflicts.

The development of acid-stable water oxidation electrocatalysts is crucial for high-performance energy conversion devices. Different from traditional nanostructuring, here we employ an innovative microwave-mediated electron-phonon coupling technique to assemble specific Ru atomic patterns (instead of random Ru-particle depositions) on MnCrO surfaces (Ru-MnCrO) in RuCl solution because hydrated Ru-ion complexes can be uniformly activated to replace some Mn sites at nearby Cr-dopants through microwave-triggered energy coherent superposition with molecular rotations and collisions. This selective rearrangement in Ru-MnCrO with particular spin-differentiated polarizations can induce localized spin domain inversion from reversed to parallel direction, which makes Ru-MnCrO demonstrate a high current density of 1.

Oxidant (OX), the sum of ozone (O) and nitrogen dioxide (NO), is used to determine nitrogen oxides (NO)-independent regional contribution and NO-dependent local contribution. This study investigates OX trends and its local and regional levels in Tehran, Iran using the data from 21 monitoring stations from 2012 to 2022 and satellite remote sensing data (TROPOMI) for 2022. The spatiotemporal trends of O, NO, and OX are first examined using ground-based and remote sensing data, and then the polar plots are employed to identify the dominant directions of OX transport and its sources.

The advancement of rapid-response grid energy storage systems and the widespread adoption of electric vehicles are significantly hindered by the charging times and energy densities associated with current lithium-ion battery technology. In state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries, graphite is employed as the standard negative electrode material. However, graphite suffers from polarization and deteriorating side-reactions at the high currents needed for fast charging.
