Background: Invasive Candida infections (ICI) are the most common invasive fungal infections in solid organ transplant recipients. There are limited contemporary data on the risk factors for infection in heart transplant (HT) recipients especially since the expansion of temporary mechanical circulatory support (MCS) use.
Methods: This was a case-control study conducted at a tertiary care academic hospital of HT recipients from January 2022 to January 2024.

Background: I-MIBG scintigraphy plays a significant role in diagnosing Parkinson's disease (PD), with most studies primarily targeting cardiac uptake and relying on traditional ratio-based parameters for assessment. However, due to variations in scanning conditions and image processing methodologies, the clinical utility of different parameters remains a subject of debate. This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of multi-parameter I-3-Iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) scintigraphy and to identify the most reliable metrics for distinguishing PD from Parkinson-plus syndromes.

This severe form of mediastinitis poses a significant challenge to clinicians due to its aggressive nature and potential for rapid deterioration. In this case report, we present a challenging case of descending necrotizing mediastinitis in a 39-year-old patient with persistent pyrexia and an extended hospital stay in the intensive care unit (ICU), cardiothoracic unit (CTU), and surgical intensive care unit (SICU).
