A quadrupole topological insulator, being one higher-order topological insulator with nontrivial quadrupole quantization, has been intensely investigated very recently. However, the tight-binding model proposed for such emergent topological insulators demands both positive and negative hopping coefficients, which imposes an obstacle in practical realizations. Here, we introduce a feasible approach to design the sign of hopping in acoustics, and construct the first acoustic quadrupole topological insulator that stringently emulates the tight-binding model. The inherent hierarchy quadrupole topology has been experimentally confirmed by detecting the acoustic responses at the bulk, edge, and corner of the sample. Potential applications can be anticipated for the topologically robust in-gap states, such as acoustic sensing and energy trapping.

Background: Chronic prostatitis may be a risk factor for developing proliferative changes in the prostate, although the underlying mechanisms are not entirely comprehended.
Materials And Methods: Fifty individual prostate tissues were examined in this study, consisting of 25 patients diagnosed with prostatic hyperplasia combined with histologic chronic inflammation and 25 patients diagnosed with prostatic hyperplasia alone. We employed UPLC-Q-TOF-MS-based untargeted metabolomics using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry to identify differential metabolites that can reveal the mechanisms that underlie the promotion of prostate hyperplasia by histologic chronic inflammation.

To investigate the influence of nanoholes on Chern insulators (CIs), we propose a porous Haldane model that considers the nearest-neighbor (NN) hoppings and next-NN (NNN) hoppings with staggered magnetic fluxes. This model supports multiple topological phases with different filling factors. At 2/5 filling, CI phases withC=±1, = 2,C=±3,C=±4and higher-order topological insulator (HOTI) appear.

It is widely believed that the skyrmion Hall effect is absent in antiferromagnets because of the vanishing topological charge. However, the Aharonov-Casher theory indicates the possibility of topological effects for neutral particles. In this Letter, we predict the skyrmion Hall effect in emerging altermagnets with zero net magnetization and zero skyrmion charge.

The photonic crystal is introduced with a checkerboard structure, which can be realized using available technology. The VSs are constructed as four-peak vortex modes of two types: rhombuses and squares.
