The purpose of this narrative review was to highlight the research on the influence of weather conditions on patients with osteoarthritis, the pathophysiological mechanisms and the therapeutic consequences. A search was conducted using the Pubmed, Medline and Web of Science databases. Barometric pressure, temperature and humidity are the weather conditions that are found to be correlated most to the worsening of pain complaints. But, due to the difficulty of measuring the impact of these variables and the great diversity in study protocols, an analysis of studies regarding this topic shows conflicting results. Central sensitization mechanisms and the function of a Transient Receptor Potential channel might explain the pain hypersensitivity to cold weather. Joint pain, caused by central sensitization mechanisms, cannot always be treated with joint arthroplasty. When pain remains present after joint arthroplasty, centrally mediated pain constitutes an important role.

Under changing climatic conditions, plant exposure to high-intensity UV-B can be a potential threat to plant health and all plant-derived human requirements, including food. It's crucial to understand how plants respond to high UV-B radiation so that proper measures can be taken to enhance tolerance towards high UV-B stress. We found that BBX22, a B-box protein-coding gene, is strongly induced within one hour of exposure to high-intensity UV-B.

Water scarcity is a foremost environmental concern and is expected to hasten in the forthcoming years due to severe fluctuations in weather patterns worldwide. The present work was designed to explore the potential role of alpha-tocopherol (α-Toc), a form of vitamin E, on the morphological, physio-biochemical, and cellular antioxidant responses of two radish genotypes grown under drought conditions (38 ± 3% of field capacity). The individual and combined applications of α-Toc (100 ppm) were used as T0- Control, T1- Control + TF (TF-alpha-tocopherol), T2- Drought (D), and T3- D + TF with three replications.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the unique weather change and acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in the southern Zhejiang Province of China and to provide evidence for better predicting and preventing stroke.
Methods: We retrospectively collected 14,996 ischemic stroke patients data and weather data from January 2019 to December 2021 in the southern Zhejiang Province of China. The correlation and risk between meteorological factors and the number of AIS daily cases were calculated.

Integrating genomic, hyperspectral imaging (HSI), and environmental data enhances wheat yield predictions, with HSI providing detailed spectral insights for predicting complex grain yield (GY) traits. Incorporating HSI data with single nucleotide polymorphic markers (SNPs) resulted in a substantial improvement in predictive ability compared to the conventional genomic prediction models. Over the course of several years, the prediction ability varied due to diverse weather conditions.
