We studied immunotropic properties of synthetic selenium-organic preparation 2,6-dipyridinium-9-selenabicyclo[3.3.1]nonyl dibromide (974zh). The experimental preparation reduced the cAMP/cGMP ratio, which indicated an increase in proliferative activity of cells of immunocompetent organs (thymus and spleen) in experimental animals. It was shown that 974zh intensified the immune response to Yersinia pestis EV thereby increasing the resistance to the plague agent.

Often ill people are, first of all, patients with recurrent infectious and inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract (URT). They put a significant financial burden on the healthcare system. The leading etiological factors of recurrent inflammatory diseases of URT, in addition to pathogenic bacterial microflora, are viral agents (viruses of the viral respiratory infections group, herpes viruses).

An investigation was carried out on humic substances (HSs) isolated from the coal of the Kansk-Achinsk basin (Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia). The coal HSs demonstrate the main parameters of molecular structure inherent to this class of natural compounds. An assessment was performed for the chemical, microbiological, and pharmacological safety parameters, as well as the biological efficacy.

There is a general question in small molecule pharmacology about how apparent compound concentrations in blood, plasma, and organs actually relate to actual amounts at the target site of a compound. In this study, we used inherently fluorescent JAK3 ligands and their macrolide conjugates to investigate the relationship between physical properties, apparent bulk concentration, and organ and subcellular distribution. In vitro uptake into immune cells suggested that much of the substance was associated with granules or organelles.

Turpentine oil, owing to the presence of 7-50 terpenes, has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antibacterial, anticoagulant, antioxidant, and antitumor properties, which are important for medical emulsion preparation. The addition of turpentine oil to squalene emulsions can increase their effectiveness, thereby reducing the concentration of expensive and possibly deficient squalene, and increasing its stability and shelf life. In this study, squalene emulsions were obtained by adding various concentrations of turpentine oil via high-pressure homogenization, and the safety and effectiveness of the obtained emulsions were studied in vitro and in vivo.

Continuous lighting for 14 days (functional pinealectomy model) leads to a decrease in the relative number of CD3 and CD3 T lymphocytes and the CD3/CD3 ratio in the thymus of C57BL/6 mice. Intragastric administration of melatonin in physiological doses (1 mg/kg body weight, 14 days) against the background of functional pinealectomy restores the percentage of CD3 and CD3 thymocytes and CD3/CD3 ratio to the control values. Hence, prolonged continuous illumination inhibits the differentiation and maturation of young thymocytes into mature forms, while melatonin treatment helps to compensate the effects of functional pinealectomy triggering cell proliferation in the thymus from the earliest stages of proliferation and differentiation of T cells.
