The synthesis of nanomaterials from PGPB is an exciting approach and it's often used in agriculture as nano-fertilizers and nano-pesticides. The present study reports a new approach to biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNP), using bacterial metabolites as agents to reduce Ag, which will remain as coating agents able to prevent microbial growth. Silver NP were biosynthesized using the bacterial metabolites produced by the beneficial strain Pseudomonas sp.

Wintering loons in South Korea face an ongoing threat from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons: Shifting sources and potential DNA damage.

Environ Pollut

January 2025

Department of Biological Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, Chonnam National University, 77 Yongbong-ro, Buk-gu, Gwangju 61186, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Diving birds, particularly those sharing coastal habitats with fishing grounds, are at risk from oil pollution. Despite documented cases of bird mortality, the specific role of oil pollution in these death remains unclear. To address this knowledge gap, this study examined polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination, its sources, and its impact on loon health.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

Austin Health, Melbourne, VIC, Australia.

Background: New generation PET scanners achieve superior resolution and sensitivity, but the implications on beta amyloid (Aβ) quantitation are not well understood. The Centiloid (CL) scale (Klunk et al., 2015) was introduced to promote consistent Aβ burden quantification across different positron emission tomography (PET) tracers and quantification pipelines, but was not intended to control for hardware or reconstruction changes.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

IXICO, London, Greater London, UK.

Background: Use of the supratentorial white matter (sWM) as a reference region for amyloid PET, alone or in a composite, can facilitate the detection of subtle changes in amyloid load (Wong et al., 2010; Landau et al., 2015).

Background: [F]MK-6240 was developed for PET imaging of AD tau pathology, but the exact molecular signature of specific binding remains unclear. This study quantified levels of four phospho-tau forms and total tau in postmortem brain tissues from [F]MK-6240 imaged cases to investigate associations with antemortem [F]MK-6240 PET.

Methods: This study included four participants from the Wisconsin ADRC or WRAP with antemortem [F]MK-6240 and [C]PiB PET imaging and postmortem brain tissue obtained on average 32-months after imaging (Table 1).
