We propose and demonstrate, in the framework of the generic mean-field model, the application of the nonlinear Fourier transform (NFT) signal processing based on the Zakharov-Shabat spectral problem to the characterization of the round trip scale dynamics of radiation in optical fiber- and microresonators.

We recently reanalyzed 20 combinatorial mutagenesis datasets using a novel reference-free analysis (RFA) method and showed that high-order epistasis contributes negligibly to protein sequence-function relationships in every case. Dupic, Phillips, and Desai (DPD) commented on a preprint of our work. In our published paper, we addressed all the major issues they raised, but we respond directly to them here.

Capturing the intricate dynamics of partially coherent patterns in coupled oscillator systems is vibrant and one of the crucial areas of nonlinear sciences. Considering higher-order Fourier modes in the coupling, we discover a novel type of clustered coherent state in phase models, where inside the coherent region oscillators are further split into q dynamically equivalent subgroups with a 2π/q phase difference between two neighboring subgroups, forming a multicoherent-phase (MUP) chimera state. Both a self-consistency analysis and the Ott-Antonsen dimension reduction techniques are used to theoretically derive these solutions, whose stability are further demonstrated by spectral analysis.

This study focuses on the delamination and characterization of different loadings and temperature conditions of polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-coated polyurethane (PUR) foam component layers commonly used in bus dashboards. The method was developed through mechanical and thermal tests. The study involves the examination of primer and no primer PVC-coated PUR components using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), tensile-compression, three-point bending, primer characterization, peel, PUR material thermal expansion, and thermal tests.

We study numerically and experimentally the second-harmonic generation (SHG) from rectangular metagratings of V-shaped gold nanoantennas. We show that by carefully engineering the array pitch to steer the diffraction orders toward the single antenna emission, the extracted signal is maximized. This enhancement is attributed to the angular overlap between the radiation pattern and array factor and is comparable to the improvement yielded by the coupling of surface lattice resonances (SLRs) with local modes.

Learning from functional data with deep neural networks has become increasingly useful, and numerous neural network architectures have been developed to tackle high-dimensional problems raised in practical domains. Despite the impressive practical achievements, theoretical foundations underpinning the ability of neural networks to learn from functional data largely remain unexplored. In this paper, we investigate the approximation capacity of a functional neural network, called Fourier Functional Network, consisting of Fourier neural operators and deep convolutional neural networks with a great reduction in parameters.
