Here, a cotton wound dressing was prepared with control release of Ketoconazole (KZ) to kill skin fungus. KZ alone and KZ/β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) were loaded on cotton through diverse methods. The drug release, antimicrobial activities against C. albicans, A. niger, E. coli and S. aureus and also cell cytotoxicity were studied. H NMR ensured the formation of KZ/β-CD complex, SEM images showed surface morphology and confirmed stability. KZ interestingly reacted with the cotton in the batch treatment possibly due to the two active chlorine groups, high temperature and relatively long treatment time. Good antifungal activities and slow release reported for the KZ treated fabric, however KZ/β-CD loaded more on the fabric with regular and slow release for longer time. The batch performed better than continuous method indicated good antifungal activities with more KZ loading and slower release. Also a cross-linking agent along with β-CD/KZ prolonged the release time with excellent washing stability.

The Spodoptera genus is defined as the pest-rich genus because it contains some of the most destructive lepidopteran crop pests, characterized by a wide host range. During feeding, the caterpillars release small amounts of oral secretion (OS) onto the wounded leaves. This secretion contains herbivore-induced molecular patterns (HAMPs) that activate the plant defense response, as well as effectors that may inhibit or diminish the plant's anti-herbivory response.

In this case report we describe evaluating a patient for a traumatic knee arthrotomy using ultrasound in a resource-limited medical clinic at the base of a ski area. A 23-y-old female presented with a laceration superior to the patella of the left leg. On examination, the wound tracked deep, and providers had concern for traumatic arthrotomy.

The reliable engraftment of skin grafts into areas with complex shapes can be challenging. Here, we report a case of successful fixation of a genital skin graft using negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) with RENASYS Cotton Filler. A 44-year-old male with no relevant medical history underwent split-thickness skin grafting for a genital skin defect caused by Fournier's gangrene.

Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase kinases (MAP4Ks) are a class of highly conserved serine/threonine-protein kinases in eukaryotes. They participate in the typical MAPK cascade system and various signal transduction pathways regulating biological processes in plants, during stressful conditions. To date, genome-wide identification of MAP4Ks in cotton has not been reported.
