Objective: To analyze the type and distribution characteristics of irregular antibodies in 71 847 hospitalized patients who prepared to accept blood transfusion, and to explore their role in safe blood transfusion.
Methods: 71 847 patients who applied for red blood transfusion from January 2020 to October 2023 were selected. All specimens were screened and identified for the irregular antibody by microcolumn gel antiglobulin technique.

Background: The Blood Bank at Oslo University Hospital implements restrictions when the stocks of blood groups O and A RhD negative packed red blood cell concentrates (PRBCCs) drop below 60 units due to high demand and low donor availability. Restrictions entail transfusing RhD negative male patients and women >50 years with RhD positive units, to provide RhD negative units to those who should not receive RhD positive units. Earlier studies have reported that up to 50% of RhD negative patients developed anti-D after RhD positive blood transfusion.

D-waves (also called direct waves) result from the direct activation of fast-conducting, thickly myelinated corticospinal tract (CST) fibres after a single electrical stimulus. During intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, D-waves are used to assess the long-term motor outcomes of patients undergoing surgery for intramedullary spinal cord tumours, selected cases of intradural extramedullary tumours and surgery for syringomyelia. In the present manuscript, we discuss D-wave monitoring and its role as a tool for monitoring the CST during spinal cord surgery.

Objective To analyze the serological characteristics and clinical significance of IgG anti-D and anti-C combined antibodies and anti-E and anti-c combined antibodies in patients negative for RhDC and RhEc antigens. Methods The clinical data and laboratory results of 12 cases with two types of irregular antibodies were recorded and analyzed, including age, sex, history of blood transfusion/pregnancy, ABO and RhD blood group identification, Rh antigen typing, irregular antibody screening, antibody-specific identification, absorption-elution tests, antibody titer determination and cross-matching tests. Results Among the 12 patients, the mean age was 51.
