The choice of electrolyte has a crucial influence on the performance of rechargeable magnesium batteries. In multivalent electrolytes an agglomeration of ions to pairs or bigger clusters may affect the transport in the electrolyte and the reaction at the electrodes. In this work the formation of clusters is included in a general model for magnesium batteries. In this model, the effect of cluster formation on transport, thermodynamics and kinetics is consistently taken into account. The model is used to analyze the effect of ion clustering in magnesium tetrakis(hexafluoroisopropyloxy)borate in dimethoxyethane as electrolyte. It becomes apparent that ion agglomeration is able to explain experimentally observed phenomena at high salt concentrations.

The P2-NaMnO cathode material has long been constrained by phase transitions induced by the Jahn-Teller (J-T) effect during charge-discharge cycles, leading to suboptimal electrochemical performance. In this study, we employed a liquid phase co-precipitation method to incorporate Ti during the precursor MnO synthesis, followed by calcination to obtain NaTiMnO materials. We investigated the effects of Ti doping on the structure, morphology, Mn concentration, and Na diffusion coefficients of NaTiMnO.

The present study introduces a minimalistic and cost-effective approach to synthesising Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using aqueous leaf extracts of Andrographis paniculata. In this synthesis, bioactive metabolites in the leaf extract act as reducing agents, converting Au³⁺ ions to metallic Au⁰, while proteins in the extract form a stabilising layer around the nanoparticles to prevent agglomeration and maintain particle size stability. The synthesised AuNPs were systematically characterised using a range of analytical techniques.

Background: Selenium (Se) is a vital micronutrient for maintaining homeostasis in the human body. Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) have demonstrated improved bioavailability compared to both inorganic and organic forms of Se. Therefore, supplementing with elemental Se in its nano-form is highly promising for biomedical applications related to Se deficiency.

A strategically designed ternary nanohybrid (TNS-PDA/CNT), consisting of titanate nanosheet (TNS) and polydopamine-modified multiwalled carbon nanotube (PDA/CNT composite), was synthesized by the facile hydrothermal method and wet impregnation method for removal of U(VI) from aqueous solution and were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy-energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Raman spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). TNSs were introduced into the PDA/CNT composite, which effectively averted the agglomeration of the CNT and further exposed more adsorption sites. PDA thin layer exposing more active sites was conducive to enhance adsorption capacity and kinetic.

In the present work, BaSrSiO: Yb and CaSrSiO: Yb (Yb = 0 mol %, 1 mol %, 2 mol % and 3 mol %) nanophosphors were synthesized using the co-precipitation method, and their comparative structural and optical properties were studied to demonstrate the effect of Yb ion on the characteristic properties of the prepared nanophosphors. The powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns of BaSrSiO:Yb and CaSrSiO:Yb suggest the formation of a single-phase orthorhombic structure with space groups Pbnm and Pna21, respectively. The Raman shifts in BaSrSiO (BSS) and CaSrSiO (CSS) indicate out-of-phase bending of Sr-O and symmetric stretching of Si-O.
