Introduction: 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF) is a promising translational therapy in several brain injury models, including the neonatal hypoxia-ischemia (HI) model in mice. However, the neuroprotective effect of 7,8-DHF was only observed in female, but not male, neonatal mice with HI brain injury. It is unknown whether HI-induced physiological changes affect brain distribution of 7,8-DHF differently for male versus female mice.

Initially often seen as "activity trackers," wearables have gradually expanded to also estimate sleep, stress, and physiological recovery. Rapid and sensitive protein detection methods are of benefit to clinical diagnosis, pathological mechanism research, and infection prevention. However, routine protein detection technologies, such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western blot, suffer from low sensitivity, poor quantification and labourious operation. Herein, we developed a fully automated protein analysis system to conduct fast protein quantification at the single molecular level.

Ion optics are crucial for spectrometric methods such as mass spectrometry (MS) and ion mobility spectrometry (IMS). Among the wide selection of ion optics, temporal ion gates are of particular importance for time-of-flight MS (TOF-MS) and drift-tube IMS. Commonly implemented as electrostatic ion gates, these optics offer a rapid, efficient means to block ion beams and form discrete ion packets for subsequent analysis.

Purpose: In congenital scoliosis, the surgical strategy approach of hemivertebra excision, with or without instrumentation and fusion, is a common approach to correction of scoliosis. However, hemivertebra excisions are technically challenging, with potential complications including spinal cord injury, nerve root injury and cerebrospinal fluid leak. The purpose of this study was to determine whether correction of congenital scoliosis can be achieved using a posterior instrumentation/fusion-only approach without the need for hemivertebra excision.
