Appropriate risk evaluation is essential for survival in complex, uncertain environments. Confronted with choosing between certain (safe) and uncertain (risky) options, animals show strong preference for either option consistently across extended time periods. How such risk preference is encoded in the brain remains elusive.

Angelica gigas Nakai (AGN) root is a medicinal herbal widely used in traditional medicine in Korea. AGN root ethanolic extracts have been marketed as dietary supplements in the United States for memory health and pain management. We have recently reviewed the pharmacokinetics (PK) and first-pass hepatic metabolism of ingested AGN supplements in humans for the signature pyranocoumarins decursin (D, C 1x), decursinol angelate (DA, C ~ 10x) and their common botanical precursor and hepatic metabolite decursinol (DOH, C ~ 1000x).

Introduction: The exploration of new bioactive compounds for agricultural applications is critical for sustainable development. Endophytic fungi, particularly those from underexplored biomes in Brazil, represent a promising source of natural compounds. This study focused on isolation and bioprospecting endophytic fungi from the medicinal plant (Pohl), grown in Serra do Amolar (Brazilian Pantanal Biome), with an additional emphasis on conserving microbial biodiversity.

Background: The anticancer activity and radiosensitizing effect of Auranofin, an an-tirheumatic and an approved gold metallic drug, have been investigated from multiple perspectives. In this study, the action of the new gold complex compound TPN-Au(I)-MM4 was compared with that of auranofin.
Methods: The inhibitory effect of 10 μM and 50 μM concentrations on cell proliferation was investigated using the human colon cancer cell lines HCT116 and SW480.

To explore the mechanistic underpinnings of caffeine as a potent antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 via in vitro functional assays, whole-genome sequencing, and in silico docking studies. In vitro studies established that caffeine's minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) against S. aureus ATCC 25923 is 0.
