The large amount of sensors in modern electrical networks poses a serious challenge in the data processing side. For many years, spectral analysis has been one of the most used approaches to extract physically meaningful information from a sea of data. Fourier Transform (FT) and Wavelet Transform (WT) are by far the most employed tools in this analysis. In this paper we explore the alternative use of Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) for electricity demand spectral representation. A sequence of hourly consumptions, spanning 40 months of electrical demand in Spain, has been used as dataset. First, by Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD), the sequence has been time-represented as an ensemble of 13 Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs). Later on, by applying Hilbert Transform (HT) to every IMF, an HHT spectrum has been obtained. Results show smoother spectra with more defined shapes and an excellent frequency resolution. EMD also fosters a deeper analysis of abnormal electricity demand at different timescales. Additionally, EMD permits information compression, which becomes very significant for lossless sequence representation. A 35% reduction has been obtained for the electricity demand sequence. On the negative side, HHT demands more computer resources than conventional spectral analysis techniques.

Once believed to be the culprits of epileptogenic activity, the functional properties of balloon/giant cells (BC/GC), commonly found in some malformations of cortical development including focal cortical dysplasia type IIb (FCDIIb) and tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), are beginning to be unraveled. These abnormal cells emerge during early brain development as a result of a hyperactive mTOR pathway and may express both neuronal and glial markers. A paradigm shift occurred when our group demonstrated that BC/GC in pediatric cases of FCDIIb and TSC are unable to generate action potentials and lack synaptic inputs.

In the emerging energy-sharing market, prosumers enhance resource allocation and promote low-carbon transitions through energy trade. Implicit carbon transfers in energy sharing necessitate scientific carbon responsibility allocation to guide prosumers' decisions in integrated electricity, heat, and carbon markets. To coordinate growing multi-prosumers, and stimulate multi-energy sharing and equitable carbon responsibility allocation, an innovative framework for joint multi-energy and carbon responsibility sharing is designed to enhance local energy transaction, carbon emission management, and mutual benefits under the guiding principles of individual rationality, low-carbon orientation, transparency, and scalability.

This article presents a performance investigation of the range and state of electric charge vehicles based on different drive cycles and analyzed. Range anxiety is the major concern in electric vehicles globally. To mitigate the range anxiety issue by reducing the energy consumption in electric vehicles further reduces the range-related problem, and the state of charge reduces the demand for driver's power.

Soldering is common in electrical product manufacturing, but the task load in small units is unquantified. Therefore, this study aimed to establish the occurrence of task load due to soldering work, analyzing the effects of age and sex among workers in small manufacturing units. The task load of 102 soldering workers from four small-scale manufacturing units was assessed using the National Aeronautics and Space Administration task load index (NASA-TLX) questionnaire, covering six dimensions: physical demand, mental demand, temporal demand, effort, performance and frustration.

The widespread use of gadolinium-based contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in recent decades has led to a growing demand for Gd and raised environmental concerns due to their direct discharge into wastewater systems. In response, we developed an electrochemical filtration method to recover Gd from patient urine following contrast-enhanced MRI. This method involves modifying a conventional vacuum filtration apparatus by introducing electrodes into the filter membrane, creating a strong electric field of ∼5 kV/m and a steep three-zone pH gradient within the filter membrane.
