Purpose: Equal level trauma centers in the same country might have significant differences regarding their demographics and types of trauma. Understanding geographic variations in injury patterns are essential for optimal care. Here we describe the differences in injury patterns and associated outcomes of thoracic trauma patients between rural and urban level-II trauma centers in a single country.

Background: Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) skills are essential for nurses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, augmented reality (AR) technologies were incorporated into medical education to increase learning motivation and accessibility.
Objective: This study aims to determine whether AR for educational applications can significantly improve crash cart learning, learning motivation, cognitive load, and system usability.

We present a gentle introduction to elementary mathematical notation with the focus of communicating deep learning principles. This is a "math crash course" aimed at quickly enabling scientists with understanding of the building blocks used in many equations, formulas, and algorithms that describe deep learning. While this short presentation cannot replace solid mathematical knowledge that needs multiple courses and years to solidify, our aim is to allow nonmathematical readers to overcome hurdles of reading texts that also use such mathematical notation.

Purpose: Understanding how spinal orientation affects injury outcome is essential to understand lumbar injury biomechanics associated with high-rate vertical loading.
Methods: Whole-column human lumbar spines (T12-L5) were dynamically loaded using a drop tower to simulate peak axial forces associated with high-speed aircraft ejections and helicopter crashes. Spines were allowed to maintain natural lordotic curvature for loading, resulting in a range of orientations.

In stock markets, nonlinear interdependencies between various companies result in nontrivial time-varying patterns in stock prices. A network representation of these interdependencies has been successful in identifying and understanding hidden signals before major events like stock market crashes. However, these studies have revolved around the assumption that correlations are mediated in a pairwise manner, whereas, in a system as intricate as this, the interactions need not be limited to pairwise only.
