Flavonoid Glycosides from Fenzl.

Turk J Pharm Sci

Erciyes University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacognosy, Kayseri, Turkey.

Published: June 2019

Objectives: The objective was to isolate and characterize the secondary metabolites of , which has not been previously investigated.

Materials And Methods: Conventional chromatographic procedures were carried out for isolation of the compounds. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by extensive 1D and 2D nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic analysis in combination with mass spectrometry experiments and comparison with the relevant literature data.

Results: This first phytochemical investigation on all parts of Fenzl led to the isolation and identification of seven known flavonoid glycosides: isoquercetin , rutin , afzelin , astragalin , isorhamnetin 3-O-glucoside , nicotiflorin , and narcissoside .

Conclusion: This is the first report on the isolation of these flavonoid glycosides from and compounds , and from the genus .

As a traditional Chinese medicine for reinforcing kidney, Cuscutae semen can be applied in regulating the level of estrogen. And nine direct-acting substances in vivo with estrogenic effect has been figured out according to our previous research. However, their transformation relationship and the prototype forms of some metabolites are still not clear, impeding the elucidation of the effective substances of Cuscutae semen.

Astragalin (AST) is a flavonoid glycoside commonly found in edible plants and medicinal herbs with a variety of therapeutic effects. This study aimed to investigate whether AST protects the integrity of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and inhibits neuroinflammation, thereby alleviating depressive-like behaviors. LPS-stimulated cultured cells and LPS-induced BBB disruption and depressive-like behavior mice models were employed.

Local therapy involving injectable hydrogel systems loaded with doxorubicin (DOX) has garnered significant attention in the realm of osteosarcoma (OS) research. Nevertheless, it has been noted that the local delivery of high-dose DOX exerts a pronounced inhibitory impact on osteogenesis, which is detrimental to the restoration of functional capabilities after OS treatment. To address this challenge, we have designed a self-assembled injectable hydrogel system that integrates photodynamic and chemodynamic therapy, aiming to enhance efficacy while mitigating adverse effects on osteogenic differentiation.
