The neural mechanisms underlying the natural and maladaptive forgetting of established memory remain largely unknown. Brain disease states might hijack the physiological forgetting mechanisms, resulting in maladaptive forgetting such as accelerated forgetting that contributes to cognitive decline in various neurologic conditions including epilepsy. Based on the key role of the integrated stress response (ISR) in memory storage and maintenance, we determined whether the ISR underpins natural and accelerated forgetting.

The development of defect-free flint glass for use in telescopes and navigational instruments was a key technological challenge facing European chemists, natural philosophers, and artisans that emerged in the 1750s. In 1805, Pierre-Louis Guinand, a Swiss artisan, invented a fireclay stirrer used to stir molten flint glass to create a homogenous mixture relatively free of defects. In this paper, I show it was not Guinand, but French chemist Antoine Baumé, who first came up with the idea of using a fireclay stirrer.

Aims: To identify from a parental perspective facilitators and barriers of effective implementation of advanced hybrid closed-loop (AHCL) therapy in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) with elevated glycaemia.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with parents of participants while in a post-trial extension phase of the CO-PILOT randomized controlled trial. The Capability, Opportunity, Motivation, Behaviour Model and Theoretical Domain Framework informed the interviews and framework analysis.

Objective: Pseudo-patella baja (PPB) was one of the complications after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This complication may be closely related to the occurrence of knee joint movement limitation and pain after TKA. This study aimed to investigate whether PPB affects clinical outcomes after TKA and to study the biomechanical effects of PPB after TKA.
