We study the behavior of the line of the unit compressibility factor (Zeno-line) in crystalline states. We used the Lennard-Jones system, experimental -- data for a number of substances, and the Debye model. We found that, contrary to the case of the liquid states, the Zeno-line in a crystal is not a straight line at the density-temperature plane. However, the corresponding pressure-temperature dependence appears to be quasi-linear. As a result, this line in the solid state can be defined by the only one point where the Zeno-line crosses the melting curve.

Tranexamic acid as an adjunct to resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta does not worsen outcomes in a porcine model of hemorrhage.

Background: Non-compressible torso hemorrhage (NCTH) represents a leading cause of preventable mortality in trauma. Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) stabilizes NCTH but may predispose patients to thrombus generation. REBOA must therefore be prospectively evaluated for coagulation risks with concomitant usage of anti-fibrinolytic tranexamic acid (TXA).

With the escalating demand for exploration within confined spaces, bionic design methodologies have attracted considerable attention from researchers, primarily due to the intrinsic limitations of human access to hazardous environments. However, contemporary bionic robots primarily attain linear motion through the axial radial deformation of their body segments, thereby lacking the upright functionality that is characteristic of these organisms. In response to the limitations associated with current bionic earthworm robots concerning upright capability and stiffness modulation, we propose an innovative bionic robot that incorporates upright functionality and programmable stiffness.

BACKGROUND: Changes in pupil reactivity secondary to cerebral mass effect are traditionally linked to compression of the oculomotor nerve by the uncus or by horizontal midbrain displacement. The neurological pupil index (NPi) is a metric to assess the pupillary light reflex. This study explores the relationship of midline shift, cisternal, and sulcal effacement or ventricular compression in patients with a new finding of abnormal pupillary light reflex.
