The serum nanoparticle-protein corona (NPC) provides specific disease information, thus opening a new avenue for high-throughput in-depth proteomics to facilitate biomarker discovery. Yet, little is known about the interactions between NPs and proteins, and its role in enhanced depth of serum proteomics. Herein, a series of protein spike-in experiments are conducted to systematically investigate protein depletion and enrichment during NPC formation.

Does perioperative electroacupuncture reduce postoperative pain in dogs undergoing ovariohysterectomy?

Department for Clinical Diagnostics and Services, Section of Anaesthesiology, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland.

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the analgesic efficacy of perioperative electroacupuncture in fifty-six healthy female dogs undergoing ovariohysterectomy as part of a catch-neuter-release project.

Materials And Methods: Ten minutes after sedation with 20 μg/kg medetomidine combined with 0.3 mg/kg butorphanol intramuscularly, the dogs were randomly allocated into two groups and received either electroacupuncture (EA, = 27) or sham acupuncture (C, = 29) treatment for 10 min (after sedation until the end of the surgery) at 6 different acupuncture points LI-4 (Large intestine 4), LIV-3 (Liver 3), ST-36 (Stomach 36), SP-6 (Spleen 6) bilateral.

Objectives: After the severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak, a state of emergency was imposed to stop the spread of infection, resulting in restrictions on routine medical examinations. As a result, there has been a decline in cancer screening and detection. However, it is uncertain how many more cancer cases among routine outpatients have been detected recently.

Background: Psychotic disorders are characterized by white matter (WM) abnormalities; however, their relationship with the various aspects of illness presentation remains unclear. Sleep disturbances are common in psychosis, and emerging evidence suggests that sleep plays a critical role in WM physiology. Therefore, it is plausible that sleep disturbances are associated with impaired WM integrity in these disorders.

Surface Bi-vacancy and corona polarization engineered nanosheets with sonopiezocatalytic antibacterial activity for wound healing.

January 2025

Department of Medical Ultrasound, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, People's Republic of China.

Piezocatalytic therapy is an emerging therapeutic strategy for eradicating drug-resistant bacteria, but suffers from insufficient piezoelectricity and catalytic active site availability. Herein, Bi-vacancies (BiV) and corona polarization were introduced to BiOBr nanosheets to create a BiOBr-BiVP nanoplatform for piezocatalytic antibacterial therapy. This meticulously tailored strategy strengthens the built-in electric field of nanosheets, enhancing piezoelectric potential and charge density and boosting charge separation and migration efficiency.
