In the province of Misiones (Argentina), the filling of the Yacyretá Reservoir (Argentina-Paraguay) to its final dimensions in 2011 formed new aquatic ecosystem, e.g., Garupá Stream was converted into a subreservoir. Reports have been made in this stream of adult individuals and spawning of the Family Sciaenidae, excellent colonizers of modified environments. The larvae of this family are morphologically similar, particularly among Pachyurus and Plagioscion species, making taxonomic differentiation difficult. In the present work, sciaenidae larvae were characterized molecularly at the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene in order to determine which species use this environment for reproduction. Additionally, genetic distances, Barcode Index Number (BIN) and Automatic Barcode Gap Discovery method (ABGD) were estimated and phylogenetic trees were reconstructed. The results indicated the presence of Plagioscion ternetzi and Pachyurus bonariensis larvae, and for the first time in tributaries of the region, Plagioscion squamosissimus. The incorporation of P. bonariensis and P. squamosissimus to the faunistic assemblage of ichthyoplankton in the Garupá Stream supports better characterization of the species richness of this secondary watercourse modified by the Yacyretá Reservoir, and advancement in our understanding of use of this area for reproduction.

Influenza A virus (IAV) continuously threatens animal and public health globally, with swine serving as a crucial reservoir for viral reassortment and evolution. In Chile, H1N2 and H3N2 subtypes were introduced in the swine population before the H1N1 2009 pandemic, and the H1N1 was introduced from the H1N1pdm09 by successive reverse zoonotic events. Here, we report two novel introductions of IAV H3N2 human-origin in Chilean swine during 2023.

Coordinating the downstream ecological demand and the power generation demand of hydropower stations is an important task in the operation of reservoirs, and how to evaluate the ecological satisfaction of the scheduling process is a difficult problem that needs to be solved urgently. A multi-objective optimal reservoir scheduling model was constructed to coordinate the spawning flow demand of " Four Major Chinese Carps"; The model takes the maximum power generation and the maximum membership degree of downstream river ecological water demand as the objective functions, and uses the dynamic programming multi-objective solution algorithm based on penalty factors to solve the problem, and obtains the non-inferior solution set in each scenario. The multilayer entropy-weighted TOPSIS method was used to study the non-inferior solution of the multi-objective scheduling model of the Three Gorges Reservoir, and the satisfactory solution ranking of the river flow rise process, ecological flow-related requirements, and power generation water requirements was obtained under the four schemes including 4d ~ 7d, which improved the reliability of the evaluation results and made up for the shortcomings of the traditional TOPSIS method in terms of hierarchy and weight science.

Gas foam injection offers a viable solution to challenges faced in oil reservoirs, yet ensuring optimal foamability and stability remains a pivotal hurdle in practical field operations. This study presents a novel synthesis procedure to create silica (SiO) Janus nanoparticles (JNPs) and examines their potential to enhance gas foam stability for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) applications. Two variations of SiO JNPs were synthesized via a masking procedure, employing oleic acid and ascorbic acid within a Pickering emulsion, marking a pioneering approach.

Given the suboptimal physical properties and distinctive geological conditions of deep coalbed methane reservoirs, any reservoir damage that occurs becomes irreversible. Consequently, the protection of these deep coalbed methane reservoirs is of paramount importance. This study employs experimental techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and micro-CT imaging to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the pore structure, mineral composition, fluid characteristics, and wettability of coal seams 3# and 15# in the northern Qinshui Basin of China.
