Biofouling is one of the major obstacles in the application of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membrane in water and wastewater treatment. Developing antimicrobial PVDF could kill the attached microbe in the initial stage, thus theoretically inhibiting the formation of biofilm and delaying the occurrence of biofouling. However, the leaching of the antimicrobial component and deterioration of antimicrobial properties remain a concern. In this work, an antimicrobial PVDF (PVDF--AGE-PHMG) was developed by chemical bonding PVDF with poly(hexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride) (PHMG). The obtained PVDF--AGE-PHMG was blended with pristine PVDF to prepare an antimicrobial PVDF membrane. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed that PHMG was successfully grafted into the PVDF membrane. The morphologies, membrane porosity, water contact angles, antimicrobial properties, mechanical properties, and thermostability of the as-prepared membranes were investigated. When the content of PVDF--AGE-PHMG reached 10.0 wt %, the inhibition rates of both antimicrobial PVDF membrane against and were above 99.99%. Due to the increased hydrophilicity, excellent antimicrobial activity, nonleaching of antimicrobial component, good mechanical properties, and thermostability, the as-prepared PVDF membrane has promising applications in the field of water treatment.

This study reports the development of highly conductive and stretchable fibrous membranes based on PVDF/PAN conjugate electrospinning with embedded silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) for wearable sensing applications. The fabrication process integrated conjugate electrospinning of PVDF/PAN, selective dissolution of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to create porous networks, and uniform AgNP incorporation via adsorption-reduction. Systematic optimization revealed that 10 wt.

Molecularly imprinted nanocomposite membranes (MINMs) have shown great superiority in selective separation of acteoside (ACT) from phenylethanoid glycosides in Cistanche tubulosa. Herein, ACT-based MINMs (A-MINMs) with coral reef-like imprinted structure were proposed and developed for specifically separating ACT molecules. The nanospheres with hydrophilic multicores (NHMs) were introduced into polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) powders to obtain NHMs@PVDF membranes by a phase inversion method.

Flexible thermoelectric systems capable of converting human body heat or solar heat into sustainable electricity are crucial for the development of self-powered wearable electronics. However, challenges persist in maintaining a stable temperature gradient and enabling scalable fabrication for their commercialization. Herein, we present a facile approach involving the screen printing of large-scale carbon nanotube (CNT)-based thermoelectric arrays on conventional textile.

In this work CS-SDAEM polymer brushes with long-chain structure were synthesized, and TiO/CS-SDAEM nanoparticles were prepared by modifying them on the TiO surface. The prepared modified membrane can effectively degrade dyes through photocatalysis and can reduce the contamination rate of the membrane during use. The separation membrane achieves efficient removal of contamination by self-cleaning.

Biofouling has been one of the major challenges impacting the long-term stable operation of ultrafiltration processes. Irreversible biofouling is considerably more harmful than reversible biofouling. Conductive membrane, as a new technology to effectively mitigate membrane fouling, lack research of controlling irreversible biofouling.
