Background: Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a difficult clinicopathologic diagnosis to make and to treat. Delays in identification and appropriate treatment can lead to increased morbidity and mortality.
Objectives: To use electronic health alert interventions to improve provider diagnosis and management of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia through guideline-based, accurate care delivery.

Background: The rate of community antibiotic use in New Zealand (NZ) is high and some may be unnecessary. Non-pharmaceutical public health interventions (Alert Levels) were implemented in 2020 to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in NZ and were likely to have affected antibiotic prescribing.
Methods: We aimed to identify the impact of these public health interventions on community antibiotic dispensing.

Health information technology-guided clinical decision support has demonstrated decreases in patient safety errors in the electronic health record. Unknown and re-emerging infectious diseases are a growing concern for many healthcare facilities. The purpose of this project was to develop a modular approach to integrate rapid deployment of clinical decision support for infectious diseases into the clinical workflow and evaluate the usability of the design.
