Background: The global coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has highlighted the importance of understanding the cardiovascular implications of coronavirus infections, with more severe disease in those with cardiovascular co-morbidities, and resulting cardiac manifestations such as myocardial injury, arrhythmias, and heart failure.
Design: A systematic review of the current knowledge on the effects of coronavirus infection on the cardiovascular system in humans was performed and results were summarized.
Methods: Databases such as MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL, Scopus, Web of Science, ClinicalTrials.gov, Chinese Knowledge Resource Integrated Database and Chinese Clinical Trial Registry were searched on 20 March 2020.
Results: In total, 135 studies were included, involving severe acute respiratory syndrome, Middle East respiratory syndrome, coronavirus disease 2019 and other coronaviruses. Most were case reports, case series and cohort studies of poor to fair quality. In post-mortem examinations of subjects who died from infection, around half had virus identified in heart tissues in severe acute respiratory syndrome, but none in Middle East respiratory syndrome and coronavirus disease 2019. Cardiac manifestations reported include tachycardia, bradycardia, arrhythmias, and myocardial injury, secondary to both systemic infection and treatment. Cardiac injury and arrhythmias are more prevalent in coronavirus disease 2019, and elevated cardiac markers are associated with intensive care unit admission and death. In severe acute respiratory syndrome, Middle East respiratory syndrome, and coronavirus disease 2019, comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and heart disease are associated with intensive care unit admission, mechanical ventilation, and mortality. There were cases of misdiagnosis due to overlapping presentations of cardiovascular diseases and coronavirus infections, leading to hospital spread and delayed management of life-threatening conditions.
Conclusion: This review highlighted the ways in which coronaviruses affect cardiovascular function and interacts with pre-existing cardiovascular diseases.

Unlabelled: Omphalocele-exstrophy-imperforate anus-spinal defects (OEIS) complex is a rare entity that presents abdominal wall defects, entails high morbidity and mortality, and requires multidisciplinary management.
Objective: To describe a case with an unusual association between OEIS complex and diaphragmatic hernia and to discuss its pathogenesis and possible association with other midline malformations.
Clinical Case: A preterm female newborn of 33 weeks of gestational age, with prenatal diagnosis of giant omphalocele that, at birth, presented intact amnion coverture containing the entire liver and some bowel loops, open bladder exstrophy and exposed urethral orifices; uterus didelphys, no palpable gonads, and concurrent imaging findings of pelvic soft tissue extrusion, left diaphragmatic hernia (Bochdalek), multiple bone defects, myelomeningocele, and myelocystocele.

Unlabelled: Respiratory diseases, including bronchial asthma in children and adolescents, constitute a global public health problem. Educational strategies are an important tool for their control.
Objective: To evaluate the impact of a health literacy program for the care and self-management of respiratory diseases and bronchial asthma after five years of implementation.

Purpose Of Review: The increasing use of prone position, in intubated patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome as well as in patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure receiving noninvasive respiratory support, mandates a better definition and monitoring of the response to the manoeuvre. This review will first discuss the definition of the response to prone positioning, which is still largely based on its effect on oxygenation. We will then address monitoring respiratory and hemodynamic responses to prone positioning in intubated patients.

Respiratory tract infections with influenza, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and respiratory syncytial (RS) viruses and pneumococci as well as endogenous reactivation of varicella zoster viruses presenting as herpes zoster, are associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes, such as myocardial infarction or hospitalization for heart failure. Effective prevention of these events, particularly through influenza and pneumococcal vaccination, is well established and cost-effective. Despite guideline recommendations to vaccinate older patients and people at risk, vaccination rates in these population groups remain suboptimal and below average in international comparison.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been associated with significant cardiovascular complications, including myocardial infection and pulmonary embolism. This study aims to elucidate the relationship between the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in the myocardium of the left ventricle and the levels of IgG and IgM antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus in deceased COVID-19 patients. We conducted a post-mortem examination on 91 individuals who succumbed to COVID-19-related complications.
