The photo-induced CO-releasing properties of the dark-stable complex [RuCl(CO)L] (L = 2-(pyridin-2-yl)quinoxaline) were investigated under 468 nm light exposure in the presence and absence of biomolecules such as histidine, calf thymus DNA and hen egg white lysozyme. The CO release kinetics were consistent regardless of the presence of these biomolecules, suggesting that they did not influence the CO release mechanism. The quinoxaline ligand demonstrated exceptional cytotoxicity against human acute monocytic leukemia cells (THP-1), with evidence of potential DNA damage ascertained by comet assay, while it remained non-toxic to normal kidney epithelial cells derived from African green monkey (Vero) cell lines.

Buruli ulcer (BU) a neglected disease induced by the bacterium Mycobacterium ulcerans, predominantly impacts tropical and subtropical areas with its pathophysiology ascribed to the Mycolactone protein. Current antibiotics frequently prove insufficient to manage advanced or chronic ulcers and the rise of drug resistance presents a considerable challenge. This work aims to address these challenges by employing computational methods to identify therapeutic candidates from organic compounds, which may be developed into more effective therapies for Buruli ulcer.

Background: Thymic neuroendocrine tumor as a cause of Cushing syndrome is extremely rare in children.
Case Presentation: We report a case of a 10-year-old girl who presented with typical symptoms and signs of hypercortisolemia, including bone fractures, growth retardation, and kidney stones. The patient was managed with oral ketoconazole, during which she experienced adrenal insufficiency, possibly due to either cyclic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion or concurrent COVID-19 infection.

T cells express an enormous repertoire of T cell receptors, enabling them to recognize any potential antigen. This large repertoire undergoes stringent selections in the thymus, where receptors that react to self- or non-danger-associated- antigens are purged. We know that thymic tolerance depends on signals and antigens presented by the thymic antigen presenting cells, but we still do not understand precisely how many of these cells actually contribute to tolerance.
