We describe the case of a child aged 11 months with vitamin D intoxication and hypercalcemia, who developed acute renal failure and dyspnea. Chest X-rays showed interstitial changes compatible with either pulmonary alveolar proteinosis or pulmonary edema. The hypercalcemia suggested the possibility of metastatic calcifications of the lung. This hypothesis was subsequently confirmed by the progressive disappearance of pulmonary findings as calcemic levels returned to normal values... Our report emphasize the opportunity of studying the respiratory system in each patient with hypercalcemia, whichever the etiology may be.

Methods: Patients diagnosed with active PTB-LC (APTB-LC), inactive PTB-LC (IAPTB), and LC alone without PTB between 2010 and 2022 at our institute were retrospectively collected and 1:1:1 matched based on gender, age, and time of admission.

We describe a 54-year-old man with type 2 diabetes mellitus, ischemic myopathy, pulmonary hypertension, and end-stage renal disease who was admitted for heart failure and listed for a dual cardiac-renal transplantation. Extensive calcification in the iliac arteries prevented clamping. Proximal endovascular balloon control of the left iliac artery was achieved using contralateral access; distal control was established by passing a Fogarty catheter distally through an iliac arteriotomy, later used for anastomosis of the cadaveric conduit.

Cerebrovascular regulation is critically dependent upon the arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide ( ), owing to its effect on cerebral blood flow, tissue , tissue proton concentration, cerebral metabolism and cognitive and neuronal function. In normal environments and in the absence of pathology, at least over acute time frames, hypercapnia is usually managed readily via the respiratory chemoreflex arcs and/or acid-base buffering capacity, such that there is minimal impact on cerebrovascular and neurological function. However, in non-normal environments, such as enclosed spaces, or with pathology, extended exposures to elevations in can be detrimental to cerebral health.
