Introduction: Haemodynamic atrioventricular delay (AVD) optimisation has primarily focussed on signals that are not easy to acquire from a pacing system itself, such as invasive left ventricular catheterisation or arterial blood pressure (ABP). In this study, standard clinical central venous pressure (CVP) signals are tested as a potential alternative.
Methods: Sixteen patients with a temporary pacemaker after cardiac surgery were studied.

In human perceptual decision-making, the speed-accuracy tradeoff establishes a causal link between urgency and reduced accuracy. Less is known about how speed relates to the subjective evaluation of visual images. Here, we conducted a set of four experiments to tease apart two alternative hypotheses for the relation between speed and subjective evaluation.

Obtaining the carotid diameter waveform is essential for hemodynamic parameter extraction. Unexplained change in parameters, despite good lead positions or odd ECG patterns following implant should lead to suspicion of lead swap, amongst other possibilities. An easy way to confirm this is by paying careful attention to device EGMs and recording the ECG by switching off one channel, and pacing single channel (in either AAI or VVI mode).
