Stereo imaging of the sea surface elevation provides unique field data to investigate the geometry and dynamics of oceanic waves. Typically, this technique allows retrieving the 4-D ocean topography (3-D space + time) at high frequency (up to 15-20 Hz) over a sea surface region of area ~10 m. Stereo data fill the existing wide gap between sea surface elevation time-measurements, like the local observation provided by wave-buoys, and large-scale ocean observations by satellites. The analysis of stereo images provides a direct measurement of the wavefield without the need of any linear-wave theory assumption, so it is particularly interesting to investigate the nonlinearities of the surface, wave-current interaction, rogue waves, wave breaking, air-sea interaction, and potentially other processes not explored yet. In this context, this open dataset aims to provide, for the first time, valuable stereo measurements collected in different seas and wave conditions to invite the ocean-wave scientific community to continue exploring these data and to contribute to a better understanding of the nature of the sea surface dynamics.

As the intersection of river, sea, and land, river deltas are hotspots for the accumulation of microplastics (MPs). This study investigated the abundance and characteristics of MPs in surface sediments from shoreline area of the Yellow River Delta in northern China, elucidated their sources, and assessed their risk. The MPs isolated from sediment samples were detected and characterized using optical microscopy and micro-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (μ-FTIR).

Anthropogenic pressures affect large stretches of Mediterranean coastal environments, determining alterations, including chemical pollution, able to impair ecosystem functioning and services. Among the pollutants of major concern for their toxicity and persistence, there are polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which can be effectively monitored through bioaccumulation approaches. However, the main biomonitor of PAHs in the Mediterranean Sea, Posidonia oceanica, is currently undergoing extensive regressions due to anthropogenic pressures, forcing the search for alternative biomonitors.

We investigate the spatial distribution and potential ecological impact of Currently Used Organophosphorus Pollutants (CUOPPs) in the Arctic Ocean, focusing on the East Siberian Sea, Laptev Sea, and high Arctic regions. Analyzing surface water samples collected during a scientific expedition aboard the "Xuelong 2" in August and September 2021, we detected 38 out of 83 targeted CUOPPs, including Phorate, Paraoxon, and Azinphos-ethyl, with concentrations exhibiting significant geographical variance. The results reveal a pronounced increase in CUOPP concentrations towards the Arctic poles, diverging markedly from the patterns observed in the East China Sea, thereby highlighting distinct regional pollution profiles and environmental interactions.

With the phase-out of legacy persistent organic pollutants (POPs), the ocean's role is evolving, potentially acting as both a reservoir and a source. This study investigates the air-sea fluxes of the first banned POPs, such as organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), using literature from Web of Science up to 2023. OCP and PCB concentrations in air and seawater show significant spatiotemporal variability.
